Spacious guesthouse
by vickss about Bed & Net
Bed and Net is a 3/4 floor guesthouse with independent apartments.. It costs about 90-100 euro a night. The place is a short walk from Keizersgracht tram stop which is about 5-10 minutes from Central Station on tram 4(among others). The place faces a canal and has good views on a sunny day. We were at the basement apartment which was ok but smelled funny due to the two pets in the house.. one fatty cat and one meek small puppy.
The cat unfortunately liked to rest in our bathroom which made us a bit uncomfortable specially my wife who is not too fond of pets and specially dislikes cats.
anyway, the apartment also had a small kitchenette.. the apartment had two large sofas which opened to small beds besides a large low floor wooden table with moving bearings at the bottom.. the apartment also had pc with net connection.
the bath was decent(barring the smell of Pedigree pet food)..
Plus the blinds of the basement apartment did not totally shut out someone if ever there was a peeping tom on the small street right outside. Considering that we were not getting any place in last week booking in Amsterdam for two ppl with private ensuite(most hostels and budget hotels required atleast 3-4 days booking at a stretch and we had two nights in Amsterdam) so it was a relief and I think decent value of money. The place was a bit far from the place of action but still not like too far.
Reaching was an issue as number plates in Amsterdam is a bit confusing with a system of odd and even numbers on different sides of the street. It took us around half an hour with our 45 kg of backpack to get to the place
Canals....the perfect way to unwind

Walking or simply sitting by the many canals in Amsterdam is fantastic way to relax. Particularly on a warm summer day. At night, the bridges light up to amazing effect. This is one of my favourite canals, the Keizersgracht............

On some of the canals, you’ll notice that there is an abundance of houseboats. I don’t know if it is still the case, but apparently this was a way to avoid taxation. No land no taxes. It’s only surprising that there aren’t more boats.
Canal Ring

Wander around the canal ring comprising of Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht for a view of Amsterdam's beautiful canals framed by the interesting facades of Dutch buildings. Each house has something different to see.
Canals

Amsterdam is called Venice of the north because of its many canals. The most beautiful canals are Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht and Herengracht. Along these canals you can find the most beautiful houses once belonging to doctors, lawyers, bankers and shipowners. The canals are lined by many trees, giving it a lovely touch.
Did you know that the names of these canals refer to important political people of that time.
Keizersgracht = German Emperor Maximilian I
Prinsengracht = Prince of Orange
Herengracht = noblemen

For the room prices you can expect top quality.
The owner is the secretary of the Dutch society for promoting Bed & Breakfast accommodations. Their goal is quality, comfort and atmosphere. B&Bs are checked yearly by unannounced anonymous inspectors.

Hotel Adolesce. Anybody can advice something?
by Lonika
Hello! I'm going ti visit Amsterdam in July. I want to book hotel Adolesce (Nieuwe Keizersgracht 26, 1018 DS Amsterdam). Just in front of Hermitage Amsterdam. One can say something about the hotel and about its location?

It's a small hotel; expect pace and comfort. Price level is 3 to 4 stars.
The location is great: close to the skinny bridge, Stopera, Hermitage, Hortus and the Amstel river.
