They say, "don't judge a book by its cover". Never had it been more true than at Hotel Rembrandt.
The hotel's building is typical of Amsterdam houses. From outside, I was thinking that the inside must be dark, narrow and rustic. But when we were showed our room, I was really shocked. It was the most charming room I have seen in my life. It boasts of modern amenities, particularly its T/B.
And the hotel's breakfast room? Straight from the medieval times, complete with a fireplace and an old fashioned kitchen, which all added to the cozy atmosphere.
Unique Quality: I particularly like our room's floor to ceiling glass window. It opens to a well trimmed garden planted with spring flowers.
Directions: From Central Station, take tram 9. Alight at the tram stop for the zoo.
This is an older hotel, close to the zoo. Their wireless internet connection was down, and you have to pay 7.50 euro to get 10 more channels (cnn, bbc). Overall, continue looking, unless everything else is booked.
I asked for a non-smoking room, and it was confirmed. What did I get, smoking. When you open the door to room 5, you must be careful not to hit anyone coming out of the breakfast room. Room 5 is the size of a walk-in closet. The actual closet will hold 5 hangers.
Sligthy run down place. Rooms OK but bit old fashioned.I was on the top, 4th I think, floor and there was no lift. Room did have private facilities. Breakfast, usual bread cheese and boiled egg.Edable but nothing special.
Unique Quality: Bit oldy world. Not for disabled people.
Directions: just round the corner from The Zoo.!!Tram 9 if I remember correctly.
