Hi,
Is it possible to walk from Novotel Amsterdam to Metz&Co in Leidsestraat?
Is public transport available and which one should i be taking?
Hi, it sure is. It's only 2.5 miles, 52 mins. I found directions on google maps but the link isn't working. Go to google maps, select get directions and make sure you change it to on foot and it'll show you the route which you can print out.
I'm sure a local will be able to tell you about public transport if you don't fancy walking it.

Just hop on tram #4 (5 minutes from the hotel) and hop off at the Keisersgracht tram stop.
Than just walk West along the Keizersgracht canal till the corner with the Leidsestraat.

By far this group has created the BEST map of the city that I have come across. The map can be purchased in tobacco shops and bookstores in Amsterdam.

When taking the canal boat trip I started to wonder about what the thing standing out from the roof on almost every house was, as seen on this picture. The boat guide actually gave the answer before I even asked. It's a lift for moving furniture, and it's still used in that way.
At first glance, Amsterdam's gable architecture resembled something from a fairytale. The various types of gable architecture - neck, bell, stoop, step (pictured)and ????? - can be seen all over the city, predominantly overlooking the canals.
A famous song in the netherlands is: alle duiven op de dam (all the pigeons at the dam).
And there are a lot of pigeons there. as in every big city it is quit a problem. In some parts of the city it is unlawful to feed them.
They are descendants from rock pigeons, brought to Amsterdam in the middleages to be food for the population. The city did some research on the pigeon population, they counted at 225 locations in Amsterdam. There are 15.000 pigeons in the city. An average of 250 live on the Dam. And the Central Station is a good second with 125 pigeons.
