Great Apartments in Amsterdam
Right on NZ Voorburgwal you will find a cute little brown cafe called De Spaanse Ruiter which is run by some very fun people. Just outside their door you will see a door that looks like it leads to nothing, but don't be fooled. This old, heavy door opens to typical steep, narrow Dutch stairways which lead to two very lovely, immaculate apartments. Each apartment has a small kitchen, a large bed, sleeper couches, and great views of the pedestrians below. The tram runs right in front of the place so if you choose not to walk, you've got it made. The owners, Christa & Yvon, are extremely accommodating and friendly without being intrusive. The showers are large enough for two people, more if you're adventurous;~} For those who wish to visit coffeeshops there are several withing a few block radius, with Grasshopper directly across the street. We stayed three weeks so housekeeping was taken care of. De Spaanse Ruiter offers a variety of breakfasts at reasonable prices with friendly service. They do offer discounts on extended stays.
I highly recommend staying at La Vie en Rose, especially if you're going to be in Amsterdam more than a week.

I want to feel Dutch in Holland; French in Paris - you get the idea. This apartment makes you feel like a local. Your own key to your own little door to your own little place.
