Helloooo...
My partner and I will be visiting Amsterdam for our second time this year (for my 26th Birthday at the end of this month!) and I'm searching and SEARCHING for a hotel in Leidseplein. I'm not looking to spend a fortune (definitely less than 300 euros for 2 nights) as we won't be spending much time in the room- but I'd still like to stay at a stylish hotel.
Does anyone have any recommendations?? We'd love to explore the city more, so if there are any other areas that you suggest for me to look at for accommodation that would be fab- we are just wanting to hang out, shop and enjoy the city :)

Have you checked www.booking.com? It's a reliable site with honest guest reviews. You can refine your search to find hotels in central Amsterdam, and again by area/landmark etc. You might find hotels in Oud-West district suit your needs.
I can't make a personal suggestion, as my hotel booked through the site was elsewhere in the city (and very nice). It was on Singel, ideal for walking and exploring the canals in the Old Town and just 5 minutes walk from Centraal. That's a nice area to stay though, imo, and very convenient.

Just off Leidseplein is the Dijker and Thjis Fenice which is on the main Leidsestraat with some rooms overlooking the Princengracht (sp??) canal . This is a stylish, very individual place (not one of the chain places) and if you can get it for the right money go for it. http://www.dtfh.nl/ There's my review on it on my Amsterdam page which is pretty realistic and gives you the downsides as well.

LEIDSE SQUARE HOTEL AMSTERDAM And Owl Hotel are possibilities, just a short walk from Leidesplein

Yes I agree Leics, a little off topic but the area around the Singel is super convenient and very pretty.

For a special occasion I would agree with ATLC's recommendation above and go for the Eden American, its interiors are beautiful. Look for a good price on the various booking sites.
