I stayed in the Maas hotel-(not to be confused with the HEM Maas hotel) near Leidseplein in August 2004 for five nights with two friends. We shared a triple room which was a bit small for three but had a great bathroom and was really clean. I dont care too much about anywhere I stay once it is clean and the staff are friendly.

Unique Quality: Accom in Amsterdam can be expensive so the Maas was a good find as it is fairly reasonable. It is located near the American Hotel near Leidseplein and about a ten minute walk from Museumplein, the main museum area. It is also on the canal and very near a drop off point for the canal boats that go around the sights.
I found the staff to be very helpful with anything you wanted and of course like all amsterdammers, they all spoke amazing English too.
Many of the trams go through Leidsplein so its a great place to connect to other parts of the city. Also if you are into going upmarket with your shopping, then P.C.Hoofstraat is only aronud the corner as well.

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average
