Typical but with benifits.

So its a Marriot.. Whatever. Onwe thing though I didnt understand at first.. Pizza hut room service 24 hours a day is key in this town ! I took advantage of that many times.. My expense account was rediculous in Amsterdam.. nearly got me s-canned.

WOW i hope you have enough money !

The Amsterdam Marriott Hotel is a 5-star hotel, superbly located in the city centre of Amsterdam, opposite the 'Leidseplein' square, just 5 minutes from the 'Museumplein', and right in the middle of Amsterdam's Shopping areas, restaurants and Nightlife

Unique Quality: Executive room with 1 Kingsize bed or 2 double beds, bathroom with barh, (satelite) TV, safety deposit box, use of bathrobe and slippers, access to the Executive Lounge where a healthy start breakfast is served. During cocktail hour we serve complimentary beer and wine.

Hotel thoughts re: Amsterdam

by ddschur

We will be traveling with another couple to Amsterdam and I had planned to use my Marriott points to stay at the Renaissance Hotel in Amsterdam...that choice was validated by some local residents.

The couple we are traveling with indicated that they had seen a travel show which highly recommended The College Hotel in Amsterdam.

Question is: which would be better for all aspects of a visit to Amsterdam including dining, sightseeing, flower markets, shopping, museums, etc., etc., etc?

All thoughts will be appreciated.

Have a look at/consider the Apollo Museum hotel.
Next to the Rijksmuseum, close to Leidseplein.

The College Hotel is newer (renovated former school building) and the management is different (a kind of high class hotel partly runned by students in training for the hotel business).

The College hotel is somewhat outside the center, but not too far away from the big museums.

The Renaissance is close to the Central station and the Dam square.

The Renaissance Hotel is closed to the Central station and the Dam square. My friend stayed there 2 weeks ago and they were renovating the lobby and entrance. The room looks pretty modern and nice.

Amsterdam Centrum is not too big. As long as it is closed to Centrum and public transportation, than it is alright.

If you are looking to use your Marriott points, then Renaissance Hotel definitely is a nice one.

There is another location for Marriott - Amsterdam Marriott Hotel at the Stadhouderskade 12.

http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/amsnt-amsterdam-marriott-hotel/

It is right outside of centrum and right at the entrance of Vondel park and close to the RijksMuseum and Hard Rock Cafe and Leidseplein area.

So, it depends on whether you would like to be right in the middle of the center or a bit outside but close to the museum. There is tons of restaurant around Dam square or Leidseplein area. So, either one is fine. The Renaissance Hotel is nice if you want to be right in the middle of the town. When you walk out the hotel and then you are right into old town and quite busy street.

If you don't have to stay at Marriott hotel. Then there are a lot of choices all around Amsterdam. Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky is nice and right at dam square.
NH Barbizon Palace is also a nice 5 star hotel right next to Central station.

If you like smaller chain or boutique hotel, I always walk by the Seven bridge hotel and they have a fantastic location - right next to Rembrandtplein but on a quiet canal. http://www.sevenbridgeshotel.nl/
They have really good reviews in the trip adviser as well.

Hotel V is a new hotel on Weteringschans and it is not too far from Rijksmuseum, Albert cupt market.
