We loved this hotel. We had a double room and our mother had a single room. The double room was slightly larger than other rooms we have had in Europe. The decor was modern / contemporary and was both stylish and functional. The windows opened on to a small pedestrian street leadning away from Rembrandtplein. Every person on the hotel staff (from the front desk to the maids) spoke perfect English and were courteous at all times. The included breakfast had both hot (pancakes, sausage, eggs) and cold (cereals, fruits, meats) items. The hotel is directly on Rembrandtplein which is a lively restaurant square. The very easy to use tram (#4 and #9) pick up directly in front of the hotel and take you toward the City Centre and Centraal Station.
Unique Quality: Our mother was particularly impressed with complimentary toiletries provided by the hotel (hairbrush, bath sponge, shower cap in addition to the normal soaps and shampoos).
Despite the very central location, our room was very quiet.
Directions: On Rembrandtplein (Square) steps away from the Amstel River.
Hi All,
I will be going to Amsterdam in two weeks for a weekend trip. Can you give me an idea of what the weather is like there at the minute?
Also, I am trying to find a hotel that allows smoking as I lot of hotels I checked are non smoking. I was looking at the NH Caransa. Is that a decent hotel or can anyone recommend another nice smoking friendly hotel?
Thanks for all your help :)
We are in full autumn on the moment. Ar least half the leaves are from the trees and rain showers are very common on a 3 day basis.
Caransa is a decent hotel.

Most places now are seeing weather conditions well outside the norm.

Enjoy your holiday.
