The NH City Centre hotel has 209 rooms, some overlooking the Spuistraat and some overlooking the Singel canal. It is located in the former Gerzon fashion factory and headquarter building dating from 1923.
Unique Quality: The Winter garden.
Directions: At the inner most canal, down town at the Spui.
NH Hotel City Centre is a beautiful hotel with a wonderful location and great looking rooms. However, anything extra comes at a cost. For instance, there is no free continental breakfast, the fitness center costs extra to use, and drinks at the bar cost as much as a high class prostitute in the red light district. Due to the hotels high costs for extras, we recommend buying any provisions from at the local grocery and liquor stores.
It was really nice to stay in this hotel, especially in a cold January. It is in a central location. Very close to Historic Museum and Begijnhof. Whenever I felt cold or shopped a lot, I simply returned to the hotel room without interrupting my schedule.
First, we had given a room in the top floor. Room was nice but its windows are too high. (You have to jump to see outside, this high!) It was an experience to see the roofs of Amsterdam. But we wanted to change the room. Our second room was on the first floor and we see the Spuistraat from the window. And we enjoyed it.
Rooms do not have a safe case. Bathrooms were small. The staffs were helpful. And the fresh baked bread in the breakfast was extremely delicious.
Unique Quality: Location
I booked direct on the hotel's website as they were offering a special rate of 79 euros a night for a double room, which is very good for Amsterdam.
It's a large impersonal hotel but has all the facilities needed for a city break stay. The rooms are not particularly large and not luxurious but they have a good range of amenities and everything was spotlessly clean.
There is a handy bar on the ground floor and a restaurant, although I didn't use it. Neither did I have breakfast in the hotel because it wasn't included in the room rate, and was expensice, so I preferred to get something outside in a cafe.
The hotel is just a short walk away from Dam Square and is central for everything. I would stay there again, provided I got another good deal.
I've stayed in NH City Center for one week, nice Hotel with clean rooms and polite stuff. In a very good place not right in the center but not far away too. And good prices.
Directions: From the central station walk down and after some meters ask for "Spuistraat" street which begins there and the Hotel is located on number 288
The flowers next to the front desk hallway were the most unforgettable scent of my visit. I still return to that hotel in hopes they will have more irises out that smell so wonderful. No luck yet, though I am still trying.
The hotel was all you could ask for, the accommodation was a superior room, with a double bed and canal view.
The decor was modern and the room was kept very clean.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Unique Quality: The view from the room overlooked the Singel, the innermost canal in the Grachtengordel.
Directions: At the bottom of Spuistraat, near to Spui.
A nice hotel highly recommented if you plan to visit Amsterdam.. It's near the center and the rooms are big, clean and confortable.
Unique Quality: Nice location, quiet neighbour
Directions: Very close to abraxas coffeshop
I've stayed in this hotel twice now and its been very comfortable. The standard rooms are a pretty good size for Amsterdam and all rooms come equiped with hairdryers and an en suite bathroom. The superior rooms are amazing, and if you really want a treat I'd reccomend them. They feature 2 double beds, an en suite with a huge bath and our s even had a private rooftop terrace...have you ever heard of such a thing in Amsterdam?
Unique Quality: Well, the terrace! Also has its own italian restaurant, which does room service too, and was not at all bad.
Directions: Very central, equidistance between Dam Square and Leidseplein.
Hello. I am looking for lodging in Amsterdam the 1st week in November for just 2 nights. We like to stay in at least 4 star hotels. I've come across the NH Amsterdam hotel. Does anyone have an opinion on this hotel? Is it centrally located?
Does anyone have a better recommendation? Many thanks in advance.
