My first thing to say about this hotel is dont let the elegant reception area fool you, this place needs a serious update and decorating throughout and in my opinion needs a damn good clean in places. That aside our stay here was quite comfortable with fairly nice rooms and very comfy beds. The breakfast in the small dining area was quite good with a good mix of cereals, bread, cold meat and fruit as well as lots of different coffee's and juices.
The staff were polite and very helpful with info on the city and local area, and there are 3 computers for use on the second floor as well as t.v's and telephones in each room.
Situated 15 mins west from the centre by tram, the stop for the main trams(numbers 14 and 7)was just across the road so no problem getting to the city. You can also leave your bags in a secure downstairs room when checking out to collect later at no charge. If you want basic with no thrills then it could be the place for you.
Unique Quality: Easy access to central Amsterdam, friendly, helpful staff.
Hello. I will be in Amsterdam on the 18th of July. Can anyone tell me how to get to Nieuw Slotania from Schipol? Also, is this hotel close to the Central Station?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, on their site you can find all info: http://www.nieuwslotania.nl/
The hotel was a subject in an ealier thread; see:
Would like to know the cheapest way to get to Nieuw Slotania Hotel from the airport? I believe the hotel is not within city center, and so a friend of mine suggested I take a private transfer service. But it's so expensive!
Help, please. It will be my first time to visit Amsterdam. The hotel's address is: Slotermeerlaan 133 1063 JN Amsterdam
Thank you in advance!
From Schiphol, take the train and subsequently the bus.
Which train and bus depends on the time, you can check for yourself here:
This site has all public transport info in the Netherlands. A guide on how to use the site, that unfortunately still is in Dutch, is here:
In case you plan to trvael more by public transport, it is wise to buy a "Strippenkaart" at Schiphol, a ticket you can use in buses.
Using Pijlmans advice, the trip (train and bus) would cost you just over 4 euro one-way (30-40 minute trip).
There are many options using Amsterdam public Transportation.
The only direct one is to take GVB bus #192 from the Schiphol Plaza to the Antony Moddermanstraat busstop and walk the last 8 minutes to the hotel.
If you buy a "Strippenkaart" (15 strips for € 6,90) at the Schiphol train ticket counter the single fare is € 1,84 and you'll have some strips lefts to go by tram to the city center.
I will be visiting Amsterdam on business in the 1st week of May. Can anyone give me some feedback on the Hotel New Slotania? and how far is it from the RAI Center? I will be requiring to visit the RAI every day for 3 days...!
Hotel Slotania is at the Slotermeerlaan 133 in the West of Amsterdam.
You have to travel to the South.
At 2 minutes walking from the hotel is a tram stop of tram #14.
Take a tram in the direction Flevopark.
Exit at: station de vlugtlaan
From station de vlugtlaan take the Metro #50 in the direction Amsterdam RAI.
Exit at Amsterdam RAI.
From there's it's a 2 minutes walk to the RAI.
