    I knew that our time in Amsterdam would be extremely short and since it was at the end of our trip that we would be somewhat tired. Therefore, I did not want to monkey around with some small difficult to find hotel. The Victoria Hotel is only 100 meters or so from the Central Train Station. And it is situated in the midst of the bustling inner core of Amsterdam.

    Our room was very nice with a raised sitting area with comfortable easy chairs and a sofa, a large bed and a window overlooking the Central Station. The price was about $200.00 but to me it was worth the cost to be centrally located in a comfortable and large room.

    • Really nice hotel with most convenient location to Centraal Station. Easy access to trams for connecting with other Amsterdam destinations.

    Vic's Terrace offers a great view of the Damrak pedestrian traffic (people watching) to/from Central Station. The afternoon snack specials are a good value & very tasty.

    Room 652 is absolutely THE BEST HOTEL ROOM in Amsterdam, with a PRIVATE BALCONY overlooking Central Station with a view down the shopping street to Dam Square.

    Executive rooms are also very nice. Try to avoid rooms in wing facing DamRak.

    All clients arriving by train from Schiphol Airport are refunded their one-way fare (first class) by the hotel.

    • Definitely would like to recommend the great service and all the amenities available. You walk out the door and you are in the heart of the center!

    The hotel has all the luxury you look for:
    their own fitness club, an indoor swimming pool, gym, steam bath, sauna, beauty salon, restaurant en bar.

    Got a special offer here. Hotel is rated **** (four star). Read some complaints about the hotel on tripadvisor.co.uk but gave it a shot at the price anyway. Accepted that it may not be great. But it was. The rooms we stayed probably are those set aside for special offers, the decor being more dated (yet nice) than the rest of the hotel. There are more superior rooms elsewhere in the hotel for more expensive stays (upwards of Eu250 a room a night). It was clean and well tended to during our stay. The leisure centre is quite nice and comfortable. For the special offer, where overnight is €200 for a double room, you also enjoy the other four star features of this hotel - excellant service, a welcoming foyet, and an all round nice hotel

    The location if you are travelling by train from the Airport is perfect. You leave the train station, cross the bridge towards the main street (Damrak). And there it is in front of you to the right, the Victoria. Since trams and buses depart from the train station, again this is an excellant location for travelling from. The Red Light District is within walking distance for a stroll. With breakfast being Eu20pp, you may rather restaurants closeby where lovely large breakfasts are server.

    I'd recommend this Hotel, certainly at the special offer price we paid.

    The victoriahotel is situated straight across the square in front of the Central Station. This huge block offers great rooms with good services and in the middle of Amsterdam. In front of the entrance the canal boat tours start and therefor this location is very good for people who stay short and have quite some money to spend.

    The story around the Victoriahotel is quite funny and therefor I am telling you it here. Look very carefully at the huge block. When the building constructor planned the hotel, it had to smash down various canalhouses to create the space for the building. He bought all houses from the owner's, accept one canalhouse in which an old lady kept her property and didn't want to sell. After a long legal battle the lady "won". The architect remodelled his plans and the Victoria hotel was built around the canalhouse.

    this hotel was fantastic for many reasons.

    1. location: 500m from Centraal Station which means that you arrive at Schipol Airport and hop on the train for a 20 min ride and walk 5 mins. a much cheaper trip than a 40euro taxi ride!

    2. staff: from the front desk, to the concierge, to the housekeeping staff...everyone was pleasant and accomodating.

    3. rooms: very clean, decent size, satellite tv

    **beware: of the charge of 20euro/person for breakfast automatically placed on your account. if you do not have breaky, they will remove the charge at the end of your stay...no problems with this; just giving you a heads up so you don't panic when you see the charge on your tv account page!**

    **a worthy note to add is that we had a 21 month old with us and our stay was comfortable**

    1. Great view of the Centraal Station from our room.

    2. Great location - short (5 min) walk from Centraal Station...hence saving you lots of euros by taking the train instead of a taxi!

    3. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance.

    Our stay was extremely comfortable at the Victoria hotel. The rooms were cosy and comfortable, the location is fantastic.

    This grand hotel built in 1890 retains its historic façade and many interior architectural details, while 21st-century refurbishments give it a contemporary feel. The Victoria’s location directly across from Central Station attracts guests who like the convenient access to the airport and international trains, as well as taxis, boat taxis, trams and underground stations. The atmosphere is always lively, with the hotel’s brasserie overlooking the bustling Damrak, one of Amsterdam’s central streets.

    The Victoria Hotel has a fitness center with indoor pool under a skylight, exercise machines, sauna, steam bath, sun beds, and professional staff. Beauty services include massage and skin treatments. The business center located just off the main lobby has four computer stations with wireless, high-speed, and dial-up Internet access, copier, printer, and fax machine. Guests can use the public parking garage across the street at a discounted rate. Some of the amenities listed are available only on request or for a surcharge.

    • The hotel was undergoing external renovation when I stayed, but this didn't really cause any problems inside.

    The reception is an odd layout and seems to create congestion, however the receptionists were very friendly and helpful.

    The room was a little musty smelling, had an old bottle cap lying on the floor, there was a large, sticky cup ring on the table and the bed sheets had holes in them. While none of this is a major disaster, when I am paying 160 euros a night, I expect higher standards.

    The room also overlooked a lane that seemed to be very popular with drunk youths in the early hours.

    Location is good - other than that, nothing else going for it.
