Amsterdams cosy hotel

The Siperman is a beautifully ran hotel which is very clean. You hardley notice the staff even though at the touch of a bell will come to your need. We stayed out all night clubbing and when we got home we stumbled up the steep stair case and nothing wassaid about noise. The beds are very comfy and the room was spot less. I would recomend this hotel to anyone.

Unique Quality: The stairs are very steep so if your past 40 with a bad back id say leave this one but otherwise its a family ran hotel which is very clean and the bedding etc was clean and very cosy. Towels are replaced daily also

Amsterdam: First time with Family - 2* or 3* hotels?

by rajivt2k2

Good Afternoon VT,

I am travelling with my family (wife and 2 yr old son) to Amsterdam end of September. I am looking for a clean family hotel near Leidesplein area.

Any recommendation is appreciated.

Thanks.

RT

Goto http://www.holland.com/amsterdam/gb/
select "look & book"
and "accommodations"

Now you can fill in your preferences (2* 3* and city center).

My result gives 69 hotels:

Hem Hotel Maas at Leidsekade 91is in the neighbourhood you are lokking for; the room price is at the high side.
You should be able to get a Euro 85 room or even a better deal.

As the city center is not that big I recommend you look to some orther locations.

An Amsterdam streetmap can be found at: http://www.amsterdam.info/print/map/

good luck,

PJ

Hi RT,

(Pieter: I should have known you'd answer even before me;-).

RT: My suggestion is to search for hotels on the R. Visscherstraat - I have stayed in several smaller 2/3 star hotels there that were very nice, clean and suitable for families (although it was some years ago, and I honestly cannot remember the exact hotels I stayed at) I did a Yahoo Search for "R. Visscherstraat hotels", though, and found some useful entries - even though I still am not sure of where I stayed ;-).

Oh, by the way, the R. Visscherstraat is a quiet, small street just beyond the Leidseplein.

Best Regards,
Robin

I have only stayed at one hotel in Amsterdam, The Art Gallery Hotel (4 times!!). It is very near the Leidseplein (2 mins walk) and right opposite the Rijksmuseum. It's clean and the staff are very helpful and they do great breakfasts too! Its on Weteringschaans which is a big main road and so it can be a little noisy in the mornings as the trams run right past the front of the building from 6am so you could ask for a room at the back.

I often wonder how people with children and buggies etc manage in some hotels in Amsterdam as the stairs are so steep and narrow and there are no lifts!

Anyway, here's their website:
