The 20 person shared dorm is surprisingly quiet, with the lockers in a airlock outside the door.

One of the best in Amsterdam
This is another of the Stayokay Hostels of the Netherlands, and part of Hosteling International. As with the Vondelpark hostel, the rooms are clean and well-kept. It is located at Kloveniersburgwal 97, a short distance from Rembrandt's House, the Zuider Kerk, and not far from the Red Light District, Rembrandt Plein, and Centraal Station (about 20 min. by foot).
The rooms are quite large and comfortable. They are all in the 6 bed variety. The area is quiet and lovely. The staff are most friendly and well-informed. You need to be a member of Hosteling International and have a membership card.
I have stayed at about 20 of the hostels that are part of Hosteling International, and have yet to be disappointed. They are generally not the party hostels that some people desire, but they are comfortable, safe, and very well administered. This is another of the 5 star hostels on my list.
Unique Quality: Comfortable and in a very good location in a quiet neighborhood that is very convenient to sights in the area.

The cheapest in Amsterdam
The Youth Hostel has a very nice location : near the Waterlooplein second hand market and the famous red light area of Amsterdam. All main tourist attractions are within walking distance. There, you only have large dorms, so it is great (the beds are good) if you don't mind sleeping with 20 other persons and don't need a lot of sleep :-) You have lockers in the hall to put your belongings in a safe place. There is also a TV-room and a ping-pong table.
Unique Quality: Hostel has a bar with pooltable and daily HAPPY HOUR from 21.00-22.00. You can have a tea or coffee free with one overnighting. Internet facilities.
The bar is the nicest place of the hostel : cosy and young with an american style decoration on the wall. The music is great. and you have also a very nice view on a canal!!!

I stayed here because of a VT meeting at this hostel octobre 6th.2001,
very nice accomodation in the centre.
From uptill (member or non member)
you need youre passport to identify, otherwise you have to pay deposit which you will get back when leaving.
Unique Quality: Transport from Amsterdam CS, tram 9, 16, 24 of 25. Get off at stop 'Munt'.
The hostel lies 500 mtr away from the stop.

hi ppl :((
its so difficult findin and understandin how hotel and hostels work in amsterdam....
i desperately need help. i always thought tht on hostels pages the price are per person and in hotel pages its per room???
im travelling with a friend and would appreciate help for guidance to book either a private with toilet for 2pax in a hostel near the city or a hotel room . budget is about E$50-70.00
plzzz help i will be there on july 4th! for 3 nights...

These are the best places you can get in Amsterdam for low rates!!! Online bookings are also possible and strictly recommended as beds are usually full all the time!!! The website is www.stayok.com and click on the English or German page unless you understand Dutch!!! Don't know if they have doubles but you can always check!!! I stayed at the Vondelpark and it was a fabulous place!!! Hope you have a nice stay in Amsterdam!!!
