Good For Solo
New and nice!
I needed a place to stay overnight and Accor hotels had a reservation office in the Airport. I got one room at thier new hotel for 120 Euro including shuttle transportation to and from the airport/hotel. This was closer, newer and cheaper then the Courtyard by Marriott by over 50 Euro.
It is a lovely hotel and the new shows. The beds were beautiful and the room minimalist modern decor. 1 thing that slightly irritated me is no bell service, but the room service was great and they have lots of in room treats including great bathroom ammenities and in room internet. But the pillows, linen and bed..... ahhh lovely.
Most of the clientel appeared to be business people and the outside of the hotel is kind of ugly office building like and not very pretty. But once inside it is very nice! This would NOT be a good location for visiting the city center - too far away.
Unique Quality: Health center included a sauna, sanarium and turkish steam bath. Very nice.
Directions: from Airport the Shuttle pick up is at stop 9 (very easy to find!) and they pick up every 30 min.
The Amsterdam's most comfortable Hotel
The most comfortable hotel in whole Amsterdam! Unfortunately, it's quite out of the city; but the hotel offers a bus system which connects the same with the centre of Amsterdam!
Rooms are wide, clean and well enlightened, with large soft beds and a comfortable leather black armchair.
Breakfast is a transcendental experience: you can find everything from fish to sausages, from cereals to pan cake, eggs, cold cuts, croissants, bread with jam and much more!
Lifts are wide, waiters and receptionists are affable and helpful.
Absolutely the best hotel for people who love being comfortable and don't care not to be in the centre of the city!
Unique Quality: As soon as you enter the room, lights turn on and a soft music starts playing. In the bathroom there's music as well!
Every room has a TV, the possibility to make warm tea or chamomile and a flatiron.
There are different lifts for customers and members of the staff.
Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the price as I bought a package through a travel agency: I didn't spend too much, but I think you'll spend much more if you book a room on your own!
Luxury Accommodation at Schiphol
Actually the name of this hotel is wrong in VT's database, it's called Dorint Sofitel Amsterdam-Airport.
The hotel is located in a new business district of Schiphol, 10 minutes away from the airport by bus. There's a free shuttle bus to and from the airport every half an hour. Make sure to be in front of the hotel early at peak times, sometimes all seats in the bus are taken and you have to wait for the next one. Especially at weekends it's hard to get away from the hotel otherwise.
The hotel seems to be rather new. I was mighty impressed with the stylish lobby and the comfy rooms and beds.
Unique Quality: This hotel is probably the nicest I have ever stayed in. It's got **** stars but offers good rates if you are lucky. We paid just 70 € for a double room (excluding breakfast).
Using the very stylish wellness area (with sauna, solarium, fitness centre and a pool which unfortunately was a bit too cold) is included in this price.
Internet usage is free as well, there's a small internet cafe near the reception.
Directions: By car take the A9, exit Aalsmeer. It's just down the road from there. If you arrive by plane or train take the free shuttle bus from in front of Schiphol Plaza.
4 Star Accommodation
My friends and I stayed at the newly built 4 star Dorint Sofitel for 4 nights over NewYear (29 Dec 03 - 2 Jan 04). The hotel staff were friendly and helpfull. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was excellent and consisted of cold meats, cheeses, breads, pickled fish, juices, pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, burgers, hash browns etc. Breakfast is served until 10.30am.
Only the gym, swimming pool and solarium are open all day. The sauna, steam room, health bar, sun beds are only open early morning/evening.
There is a 24 hour sports bar with an american pool table, darts and table football.
The hotel runs a free shuttle bus to and from the airport via another hotel. This service is NOT 24 hour. Frequent trains run to Amsterdam central from the airport (3.2 euros). A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs 20 euros, and from the centre of Amsterdam to the hotel~40 euros.
We got a very good deal at the hotel and paid ?30 per night each for a twin room.
I would recomend this hotel if you are considering staying at schipol. We only stayed here because we couldn't get accommodation in central Amsterdam. It was a bit of a hassle having to get a cab/train home each night, especially as there were 5 of us. But the luxury of the hotel made up for this.
The only bad points were our key cards stopped working a few times and had to be reactivated. Also when checking out they tried to charge us for drinks we never had from the mini bar. I think they were having technical problems with their computor systems.
Unique Quality: Facillities were fantastic. Rooms extremely comfortable.
