room without a view or infact even a window.
I stayed at the Veteran hotel in September 2011,it was advertised as a hotel but is really a hostel.
My room was small, grotty and was under the stairs and had no window, when I asked to be moved I was told Id have to pay more which I was not willing to do so had to stay put in my grotty little room with no view [window] the room door was flimsy and had a gap that let the wind in,the shower room you could not swing a cat in and the bed was small and short.
The hotel [hostel] was noisy, dirty and the breakfast was very basic and the cerials they served were soft and warm, sliced meat was warm, coffee was horrible,I decided to go out for breakfast.
I could not wait to get out of this place and would advise anyone that if they think their getting a hotel then the're in for a not so nice suprise.

Unique Quality: Unique qualities, haaa yer it was unique,
Location, location, location!
A very basic canal house converted to a hotel / hostel. Is in an excellent location on the Thorbekeplein and Rembrandtplein and overlooking the Herengracht Canal. Don't expect much. It's funky to say the least! Roller coaster floors, velvet mural blankets with the occasional cigarette burn. But it's run by a very nice young indonesian couple who put on a basic but acceptable breakfast buffet in the morning and keep the place clean..
Directions: Herengracht at Thorbekeplein.
