We booked into the Waterfront in good faith as they were the only hotel in Amsterdam who would accept a booking for 31st December by itself. My friend called up to confirm the reservation a week before, and was told that only 1 room had been reserved rather than two, and that we could not all stay in it due to fire regulations. We then made several complaints, and were eventually told to just 'turn up and we will look after you.' We then showed up on New Years eve (after a very long walk in the rain) and were told that we did not have any rooms at all. The owner first told us it was because of water damage, and five minutes later changed the excuse to say that placestostay.com had not told him we were coming. We knew this wasn't true as we had already been told over the phone that our names were in the diary, but for only 1 room. This was worrying, as he has obviously had to make excuses to many people that day if he can't remember which excuse is which. He eventually booked us onto what he described as a 'cruise boat' and I wish I had taken a picture of it, as it looked like a rickety old pirate ship. We did not even feel safe stepping on board, and the security was non-existent. You could just walk right onto the boat and inside without seeing anyone. In the end, we marched down to the Amsterdam Tourist board who found us a lovely hotel called the Lloyd, which I will also write a review for. By the way, the Waterfront's map is highly misleading. Look it up on multimap, it is not that central. It is a good 30 min walk from the centre. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MAN!
Directions: Right at the bottom of the singel canal
as you can see in the picture breakfast is pretty basic, but it's really tasty.there was an assortment of meats and cheeses, eggs, cereal, and tea or coffee.
Unique Quality: very european style down to the decor.
Unique Quality: I had seen their page on the internet, but wasn't able to get enough information to be sure of it. I took this picture and dropped by the front desk. Unfortunately I could not see a room, but I think we might try this one next time!
