A hidden jewel

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

As a general rule, we only tend to go for hotels with a 3* rating or higher. However, this trip to Amsterdam was shared with a couple of friends, and so we all decided on the cheap and cheerful route.

I'd seen Zosa hotel recommended elsewhere, as something that little bit different. After looking at their website:

www.zosa-online.com ........

....... I was hooked.

There are only 8 rooms, and each is decorated in it's own individual style. We were in the Rembrandt Room, with a huge Rembrandy Reprint over the bed surrounded by a faux gilt frame. Bathrooms were newly refurbished, and very clean. The room itself was spotless, but looking a tiny bit tired - such as staines on the carpet. We had a lovely view over the river. All this for 80 euroes per room per night including breakfast!

At night they have a watchman, to let you in if you return late (which we did) and he also served us a bottle of wine at about 2am!

I'd really recommend this hotel as a quirky place to stay in Amsterdam. Try to get a room at the front of the building, because then you'll have a view of the river.

Brekfast was yum - a continental style breakfast was included, or you could pay a few extra euros for an English brekfast.

The location was spot on. Close to taxis and Trams. Surprisngly close to the red light district, but you'd never know it.

Unique Quality: Every single room is decorated individually - a Rembrandt Room , a Zen room, a Lollipop room etc!! You can choose which one you want before you go and they'll try to accomodate your request.
