Best Western Hotel Marijke

Checking out this hotel for a conference, we found an elegant town house with an annex across the road.

Hotel Marijke is just the hotel that you seem to know, even if you've never been to Bergen.

Best Western is a franchise chain. That means that standards are not the same everywhere as each hotel is privately owned or a chain in itself.

Unique Quality: Very nice lounge, large restaurant, in the center of Bergen on a quiet road.

We saw various rooms from Standard Deluxe to Junior Suite.
I was disappointed. Seeing the rooms I noted smells of food (in the main building) which drift up the stairs to the rooms, and definitely stuffy smells in the rooms in the annex.
Almost each room has ensuite bathrooms, hairdryers, tv's, the lot. One floor in the annex is modernised.

The rooms are not large. The junior suite just seems to have a larger bed and a little outdoor terrace overlooking the bicycle park (no privacy). The little starry lights over the bed does not make up for the fact that the room (and many rooms along with it) need redoing.

It's not at all bad. In fact, it's quite sufficient. It was just disappointing because it was all a little worn, more worn than I expected. I just wouldn't call it a luxury hotel, just a well-used business hotel.
