Vakantiedorp Het Grootslag: Great campsite on Dutch coast
Holiday Village Het Grootslag is a fabulous campsite with a variety of choice for accommodation; bring your tent, caravan or mobile home or stay in one of the chalets/bungalows. Each camping pitch has it's own loo/shower cubicle which is a great idea. Unfortunately something must have got stuck in the drain underneath ours and it was too smelly to use other than to hold your breath when you went to the loo.
There was bag of useful freebies in the cubicle when we arrived although for the life of me I can't remember what was in it. I remember we were both very impressed and they were exactly the sorts of things that are useful when camping - I think it was things like bin bags, face cloths, matches.....
It's very pretty to walk round as there are lots of little ditches which have been waterlogged creating little streams. It's very nicely landscaped and well mainteined.
You can't actually see the sea directly from the campsite as the coast has a dam built up along it as the area was prone to flooding before the Zuiderzee Works (see my other Thing to Do)
Heated indoor swimming pool with great jet stream where you get swept gently around by the waves.
There are animals on the park which would be great for kids (although we were fascinated by them too). We spent ages watching 3 differently coloured rabbits chasing each other round like loonies in the little section we were camped in. There was an enclosure with goats (as pictured) and we saw two little ponies wandering round the site which were very tame.
I don't think you are allowed dogs on the site, I suspect for these very reasons.
The website below offers only information in either Dutch or German. I will fish out my invoice to put up how much we paid for one night..... price to follow
Other facilities: restaurant, takeaway, bar, supermarket, ten pin bowling, tennis, bicycle hire, pony riding for children (July & Aug), crazy golf, playing fields, launderette. There is a small charge for leisure facilities such as the pool. I still have my passes so will fish them out and check prices.
There is a beach 1200m from the park and Andijk has a pretty marina.

Appelo Bed & Breakfast: Nice B&B
We stayed for one night at Joke Appelo's place. Found that B&B at http://www.bedandbreakfast.nl
Room was really clean and nice.
The hostess had a lot of art books in her living room where we had our lovely breakfast. So that might be a hint what kind of people offer the accommodation ;)
Price fair enough - 50 EUR.
[as posted in general tips section - take your earplugs with you - church bells all night long :)]

In the morning it will be a surprise, especially the BREAKFAST TABLE.........

There are single and double rooms and is the cheapest place of the last three mentioned here, which can be practical....

HET WAPEN VAN ENKHUIZEN ***: NIGHT AGAIN......
ALBERT AND ELLY KOEMANS ARE YOUR HOSTS......
This must be fantastic otherwise it wouldn't dare have this name: ENKHUIZEN'S COAT OF ARMS....
It is a fine *** place where you will feel af if it had ******** or more...atmospheric restaurant and excellent kitchen!
This is the only place where a single room is cheaper, mostly single rooms are more expensive, although I wouldn't know or can guess why!
You will wake up in the very heart of ENKHUIZEN and you will love the Dutch light that somes in through the curtains.....
Perhaps you can hear the wind so near so much water.....or the tinkling of the little iron things of the sailing boats, the yachts!!
I slept here once.......quite some time ago....
there are 12 renovated comfortable rooms en suite with TV and telephone.
