During my last visit to Amsterdam and the area around it i stayed at this hotel for three nights. I always prefer to stay near Schiphol instead of staying downtown Amsterdam. Because of great train connections staying there makes it easier to get to great places like the sea or The Hague (30 mts) as well as to Amsterdam (20 mts). Plus it feels a lot safer there...

The hotel was great. Very friendly staff, good location only 5 minutes by shuttle bus from the airport, modern rooms and a wonderful wellness & sports area! Read more about all this in "Unique Qualities".

Unique Quality: I was spoilt from a brand new Dorint Sofitel Schiphol from the last time I had stayed here. I thought that the NH, even though it had 4 stars. couldn't compete. It could though:

The rooms were not as stylish but still modern and nice. The only downside were the beds which were too soft and they stood on wheels so the whole thing was a bit wobbly. Apart from that there was everything you need, a good selection of TV channels, tea and coffee, a nice bathroom, even a small book with bedtime stories next to the bed (I love it when hotels care for the "little things"...)

The hotel is right in the corridor of Schiphol Airport so despite double glazed windows it can get noisy. I really enjoyed being able to watch jumbojets take off from my bed ;)

There is a 8 seater-shuttle bus connecting the hotel with the airport. It should leave every 20 minutes but if it's necessary it goes every 10 minutes. Very easy! Not like in the Sofitel....

The best feature, however, was the wellness & sports area of the hotel. It features quite a large pool which was well heated (not like in Sofitel ;), a whirlpool, steam bath, sauna, gym, an outside tennis court as well as two inside squash courts, something I had never seen in a hotel before. I loved coming here in the evening to relax in the pools or the sauna.
