This newly-opened hotel, or rather newly re-opened after 35 years as another type of business, was a great find. It is in fact the only hotel in the beautifully picturesque village.
It's a great opportunity to stay within the confines of this polder village, and makes a great contrast to nearby Amsterdam
The hotel has been most tastefully decorated, and the real pride is shown by the charming owners.
The views of the jumbled-together Marken houses make an interesting foreground to the big Dutch sky and polder landscape.
Breakfast was phenomenal, but do check whether dinner will be served during your stay, as the kitchen is occasionally closed
