Many farms offer Kamperen bij de boer . It is a cheap way to stay at Texel, but make sure the weather forcast is good. We had to dry everything including our sleepingbags and matrasses after it rained all night...
This is not a real campground but the farm we stayed at belongs to the parents in law of one of Gonnies´ collegues. They have a permit for camping and we were allowed to stay here for one night. They even offered us breakfast, that is not included normally....... Hotel Koogerend is located in Den Burg, the biggest village of Texel. Just outside the busy centre, but still not to far to walk to the restaurants or pubs. Leave a Comment

Hotel De Lindeboom (The Lime Tree) is located in Den Burg and situated on the Groeneplaats, the square just in the centre of this ‘capital’ of Texel. Therefore a perfect place if you are not on Texel for the beach and the sea and during off season periods. The hotel has a car park (€ 6,- a day) and it also possible to rent bikes at the front desk.
De Lindeboom does exist from 1895 and even now it has in my opinion a lot of ‘old charm and hospitality’. Rooms are renovated and do have all modern amenities one can imagine (bathroom, air-conditioning, floor heating, internet access, colour TV and really nice beds).
It has a couple of restaurants; we did like most the so called Café Brasserie with a warm interior (a little bit like an English pub), serving tasteful diners. The oldest part of De Lindeboom is Het Schoutenhuys, which dates back to 1611) and is a well known restaurant on Texel (we missed it because it was open from Wednesday till Sunday). The excellent breakfast buffet was a great start of the day.
De Lindeboom has a nice sunny terrace and even early February we could drink our cappucino enjoying the sun and watching Texel's streetlife.

This Youth-hostel is perfectly situated at about 5km from the boat arrival quay near Den Burg. It is in the middle of the sheep fields and the view is very nice! It suits perfectly for biking trip as they rent bikes or have a large bike parking place. The dormitory has 8 beds and the sheets are provided. Sleeping is OK... except if there is someone snorking all night long! Breakfast is a very garnished buffet with a lot of choice! Leave a Comment

You are very welcome at BOERDERIJCAMPING DE VRIJE VOGEL.This campingground is situated next to the characteristic STOLP BOERDERIJ where the farmer has his DAIRYFARM.
You will find everything you need in the special buildings for the campers to use: washing machines, tumble-dryer, freezer....and every location for a tent / camper / caravan has water and electricity.
There are new sanitary rooms where the floors are heated and there are showers and restrooms for ladies and gentlemen and also for invalid guests.
A play ground with nice things for the little ones.
You and the children can help the farmer milk the cows are do other little jobs...you will love it here.

This fine hotel has double rooms but also very fine SUITES for 2 or 4 persons.
De SUITES have a KITCHENETTE with freezer, electric kettle, microwave, toaster and more...
The place is easy to reach: haveing edisembarked the ferry you take the DE PONTWEG and go straight on till you arrive at DE KOOG. (some 9 km..)
The hotel is on the lefthand sinde of the road, immediately at entering the village.
Behind the hotel you can park your car!
Needless to say that TEXEL is the largest and most varied WADDEN ISLAND and has great natural beauty, worthy of a special spot in your heart! At this address you can rent a 3 - 4 - 5 star BUNGALOW depending on what you want to spend on accomodation!
All bungalows have a shower or tub, a freezer, central heating, television, OPEN FIRE, lots of privacy for every guest.
