We thought the hotel was just lovely. I would recommend staying here. Our room had it's own private balcony that overlooked the harbor. We had everything is the room we could need. The lobby and the restaurant are older and really quaint.
Unique Quality: The private balcony overlooking the water is nice.
Directions: You have to enter from the end of the town where is says "hotel path". A man will have to remove the barrier and let you pass. When it is not so busy you can reach it by driving straight to the wharf, just as you can walking.
We stayed here for a few days in October 2003 when the weather was particularly cold. The hotel was very warm and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant and the brasserie and we were very impressed with the food and the service so much so we are going back again this October 2004. If you like something out of the ordinary away from the crowds but within easy reach of Amsterdam and Noord Holland this is the place to stay.
Unique Quality: The hotel has views over the Issjelmeer and the town of Volendam is a traditional Dutch fishing port with old fashioned houses and many good gift shops. There is ample free parking at this time of year and the swimming pool is another plus. The rooms are traditionally decorated and appear to be totally individual with all the facilities you need. Highly recommended. Special offers available for two nights or more.
Directions: Right on the harbour
We didn't stay here but our bus stopped outside and we walked through it. Looked very nice and this was where we saw some women in the traditional Dutch costumes
Unique Quality: Back in the 19th century many artists came to Volendam to capture the picturesque town on canvas and you can see some paintings that were left, on the walls of the hotel
