Greece to Enschede

by Kraig33

Hi there, this is my first post.

I am moving to Enschede in August and want to find a cheap and easy way to go there. Prices during August are quite high.

I have found air routes to Amsterdam's airport and to Germany's Dortmund and Munchen.

Which one should i prefer?
Does anyone know of any train to go from Dortmund or Munchen to Enshcede? Mind i do not speak German so i do not know if i can communicate effectively in Germany.

Thanks!

I can't really advise you about flying. But the train fare from Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol) to Enschede is 23,80 euro (one-way). It takes 2 hrs 15 mins approx. Some trains have 1 changeover, other trains are direct. Very easy!

German railway, by the way, is www.bahn.de
There are English versions of both bahn.de and ns.nl.

Munchen-Enschede is a very long train ride. About 10-12 hours.
So I would not choose that city.
Dortmund-Enschede is a slightly longer train ride than Amsterdam-Enschede (just about 5 minutes longer).

You could fly with Air Berlin from Athens to Munster/Osnabrück (FMO) for as low as Euro 166,-- one way and go by train to Enschede.

Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking of going to munster ( greven) and then to Enschede by train.
I have never been to Germany before and i do not know if they speak English and if i will find my way around. What do you people think?

Are there any information standards to ask for directions etc?

Plenty of people speak English in Germany. In my experience I never met a German who didn't. But it never hurts to learn some phrases. You can google but there are also small travel dictionaries for sale.

I don't like beer, but had no choice...

by OrlandoBR

You probably don't know what the *locals* told me about Dutch beer: they all hate Heineken! The real Dutch people just drink GROLSCH, or sometimes that Amstel, but Heineken, they despise. It's just for export. So meet your friends at the central square and have some Grolsch. Just don't try to pronounce it, it is not* pronounced as you think it is, and you won't pronounce it right no matter how many times you try.
