Water everywhere!
by nighthawk
When in Giethoorn, try to rent one of the so called whispering boats. It doesn t cost that much and you can go on one of the routes they give you. Not only going through the canals in the village, but leaving the village and boat on the big lake, which can be some what more fun.
Water lilies everywhere
by Nathalie_B
Water lilies are very typical flowers in the Giethoorn's landscapes. Whether in canals or just ponds you'll see those flowers all over. Especially it is beautiful to see the many private houses that stand on, or close to, the water surrounded by ponds of white and pink water lilies.
If you rented a boat and went exploring Giethoorn through its lakes and canals you'll have many opportunities to see these flowers and make nice pictures.

Traditonal Boats of Giethoorn!
by Roeffie
Originally transport in Giethoorn is and was the "Punter" It is a typical kind of boat for this region.
There are several different punters, such as sail punters, like the one on the picture!
But what most people mean when they say Punter is the boat where you sail by putting a big stick into the bottom of the canal and push yourselve forward. This is called "Punteren".
Look at the site of "Punterwerf Wildeboer" for more info on this little boat.
