Eden Star Hotel: Arty, Classy and not Hugely Expensive

I was only here for an overnight stop and so didn't use the hotel's facilities except the bed but I liked this hotel.

The first major plus was the tea and coffee facility in the room which is a bit of a rarity in European hotels. Preceding that was the friendly and VERY efficient receptionist - all the paperwork was done (I'd booked through www.booking.com) and so it was just a matter of getting my key, being shown where the lift was and the instruction - "Nothing is a problem, whatever you need we are here."

I never did take her up on that offer but it certainly sounded interesting LOL ;)

My room was HUGE and although slightly corporate in feel had a designer originality, as too do the hotel corridors. Each floor has different "themes" which are followed through by the rooms - the themes include "Movies", "Travel", "Hengelo" and and another couple which I didn't visit (the floors that is not the individual's rooms).

For an upmarket town centre hotel this was excellent value for money - maybe I got a good deal with it being a Sunday night stay but a similar standard hotel here in the UK would have cost me more than twice what I paid here.

BTW - Freebie WiFi was perfect but I was too drunk to appreciate it ;)

Hotel Fun Fun: ex-Hotel returned and closed again!

This place is one of Hengelo's oldest hotels. Its former name was Hotel De Kroon and thereafter is was a housing for asylum seekers. Well, it came back as Hotel-Bar Fun Fun, but just for a short time. I will keep an eye on the building to see what will happen in the future.

Hotel Landgoed De Wilmersberg: Hotel "De Wilmersberg"

Sorry I had to turn the picture 90 degrees, so I got the right colours. The other picture turned out more or less red.
This is the brand Korenwolf, when it is hot also served with a slice of lemmon. I prefer it without lemmon.

Hotel Nationaal: 4 guests Hotel

Nicely located in the center of town

It's the cheapest in town, has only 4 rooms, breakfast is included. It's so popular it has 4 permanent guests, so it will be very hard for you to book a room.

By the way, this hotel is famous because the son of the owners is the world famous fashion designer Dick Holthaus.

2012 Update: Apparently in 2008 the last guests left and the hotel now only is a lunchroom (I can recommend the soup).
