Tulip Inn Leiden Centre

This hotel is located quite close to the station (about 4-5 minutes), but away from the center.
It is a modern building and a good, but expensive, business-class hotel.

I have had several colleagues staying there and they were quite happy, although I would probably go for something more central.

It is about 5 minutes away from the center, but it is probably not the nicest walk you can take. I don't think it is very dangerous, but you walk through the dodgier part of Leiden (if there is such a thing).
