In the former building of the Holland-Amerika Line

Hotel New York has opened its doors in the spring of 1993 in the former office of the Holland Amerika Lijn, from where Passenger ships used to sail to New York and other legendary cities.

Hotel New York get its charm not only by its history, but also by the actual activity at the river like the passing barges from the harbours of Rotterdam towards the inland of Europe. If you don't sleep in the hotel, it's nice to visit anyway the grand Café or the terrace of Hotel New York.

You can reach the hotel by classic watertaxi HNY, leaving from the Leuvehaven or Veerhaven. Most of the day these watertaxis will sail every 10 minutes. Outside the busy hours you can call 010-4030303 and the taxi will come.

Unique Quality: The hotel has 72 rooms at three floors including two tower rooms and a penthouse at the topfloor. All rooms are spacious and most rooms have great views at the river. If you like you can sleep in the former executive suites.

Superb and original hotel

Have not been there because I was living there and had no money to spend one night, which must be quite expansive as it is a 4 star hotel.

Well, Hotel New York did not use to be always an hotel. It was the loading place for Netherlands people who wanted to expatriate to the US. The last place before Ellis Island for many people... So the architecture of the hotel is really original. It is a little bit as if you had an hotel on Ellis Island (a little bit I said)... Location is great, located at the end of Kop van Zuid, which is the island south of Rotterdam. From there, perfect view of the Maas river and the impressive first class harbour.

Went there to take a cup of coffee and if you cannot spend one night there it is a great alternative to enjoy the place. Note that you can go to the hotel via a 5 minute sailing (tickets are not too expensive).

Relax in Style

Enjoy your stay in this elegant hotel. The hotel was formerly the offices of the Holland America Shipping Line and is situated on the banks of the river Maas with views of the Erasmus bridge, the busy harbour and accross from the "man made beach" at Smit Wharf. From here you can take river taxis or enjoy harbour sightseeing trips. Otherwise if the weather is good, relax in the sun on the sun deck patio.

Most stylish place to stay...

Not a 'business' hotel. Completely refurbished offices of Holland America Line (early 1900s building). Rooms are modern and stylish. Think old New York.

Unique Quality: Accessible by water taxi, this hotel features arty rooms and a fantastic restaurant (acceptable food) in previous departure lounge of Holland America Line.

IN THE NETHERLANDS.....AN EXCELLENT HOTEL NAMED...

An excellent Hotel (restaurant), housed in a historic Rotterdam Edifice: some 90 years ago, the building which was to serve as head office of the Holland-Amerika Lijn reached completion.

Now it is a wonderful hotel and restaurant, and its locations is just GREAT!

Unique Quality: The two Towerrooms are very attractive hotelrooms!!!!

The hotel offers the water taxi with skipper...

The penthouse can be rented for longer periods of time..

The rooms are specious, with gigh ceilings and most offer a view of the river Maas, lovely busy river in a bubbling city!
Distant harbour sounds can be heard when you open the window...

All room differ in SHAPE, SIZE AND...COLOUR.

Room prices do not include Breakfast but of course it is available for those who want a good start of the day.....

2 of the most pleasantly situated rooms can on request be furnished as honeymoon rooms!!

Or course there is a lot I could tell you on the buildings history but.......do go there and have a look (and book)(booklet) for yourself.......you will come back there.....

Hotel New York

This 4* hotel is situated in what used to be the office building of the Holland-America line. It has a great ambience and fantastic bar that serves wonderful plates with delicious snacks.
