    Have not been there because I was living there and had no money to spend one night, which must be quite expansive as it is a 4 star hotel.

    Well, Hotel New York did not use to be always an hotel. It was the loading place for Netherlands people who wanted to expatriate to the US. The last place before Ellis Island for many people... So the architecture of the hotel is really original. It is a little bit as if you had an hotel on Ellis Island (a little bit I said)... Location is great, located at the end of Kop van Zuid, which is the island south of Rotterdam. From there, perfect view of the Maas river and the impressive first class harbour.

    Went there to take a cup of coffee and if you cannot spend one night there it is a great alternative to enjoy the place. Note that you can go to the hotel via a 5 minute sailing (tickets are not too expensive).

    This 4* hotel is situated in what used to be the office building of the Holland-America line. It has a great ambience and fantastic bar that serves wonderful plates with delicious snacks.

    The marine theme rules in this hotel. Your bathroom door will have a porthole window in it. Your cupboard will be an old trunk on its side. The rooms are spacious, excellently maintained and very clean. Once we stayed there with a large group and had rooms along a whole corridor. So peeped inside each one of them: they're all different too!

    Enjoy your stay in this elegant hotel. The hotel was formerly the offices of the Holland America Shipping Line and is situated on the banks of the river Maas with views of the Erasmus bridge, the busy harbour and accross from the "man made beach" at Smit Wharf. From here you can take river taxis or enjoy harbour sightseeing trips. Otherwise if the weather is good, relax in the sun on the sun deck patio.

    Hotel New York located at 'De kop van Zuid' and housed in the former Holland America Line headquarters. The building is wonderfully rebuild into a classical hotel.

    Used to be the port where the famous Holland/Amerika cruiseships came to collect passengers. Very historic building with a great restaurant inside with views of the whole city.

    Although I did not stay here, another hotel in Rotterdam is the Hotel New York. If you're interested in reviews of the place, email VT member Robin_Linda, who stayed there during the meeting.
    According to the flyer we got, the average room varies from 89 Euros to 155 Euros. There are larger, more expensive rooms as well, including a penthouse (200 Euros/night).

    We stopped by the Hotel New York and had a few drinks and appetizers, so I can vouch for the bar (Great!). The restaurant seemed crowded and popular also, and the food smelled great. The hotel was once home to the Holland America Lijn, so it actually looks pretty shabby outside. The inside looks pretty upscale and ritzy. The Hotel also has it's own water taxi service available, just in case you need to get to the other side of the harbor.

    I have no idea because I wasn't staying there. I just thought it looked so lovely! On the picture it's the little building obviously!

    This hotel used to be the building of the Holland America Line and it's wonderful from the outside. I don't know about the inside unfortunately.
