It depends on where you have to be in Scheveningen. One possibility is the train to Den Haag HS and then tram 1 (to Scheveningen beach/Kurhaus). The site of Den Haag public transport is at http://www.htm.nl/

It's 50 minutes by Intercity train from Amsterdam Central Station to The Hague (Den Haag) Central Station.
From there it's a 15 minutes tramride (line 9) to Scheveningen.

Yes- very easy- Go to Centraal station and take train to Haague. The number 1 bus right from the train station will take you down there.

"My" Lourdes Grot

Just one step behind the Circus-Theatre and next to the Casino, Scheveningen, you can find the Lourdes Church (O.L. Vrouwe van Lourdes Kerk). Within in the hectic centre of Scheveningen a good friend told me about this spot. Besides the Old Church of Scheveningen there is this "oldest area" of Scheveningen, where the fisher-women gathered for a pray to heaven to bring back their loved-ones form the wild sea ... The name of Lourdes Church and it so peaceful Lourdes Grot (Cave) must have been turned up after the Bernadette of Lourdes myth. A lot of travellers come here to pray for a good trip on their way, or light a candle. There is a Maria-statue, pure white, in a corner and, when the light comes in at a particular time through the glass windows in the roof (midday), the light will shine right at the statue. It has been lightened up for now, though when I am there for a little meditation I can imagine how people get surprised by the sudden light coming in from up heaven ...
A friend of me could not resist the peaceful candles at one of my fondest spots ...
International sandsculpture festival

Every year in Scheveningen there is the international sandsculpture festival where national and international teams compete to have the most beautiful artwork
This year it will be from the 5th of may till the first of june (2003). From a week before (maybe more but of that i'm not sure) you can see the scultpurers busy with their work under construction
De Pier

The pier is situated near of Kurhaus. It is a long building structure that stretches to Northern Sea. It has rather decorative purpose. There are several shops as well as some places of view. Besides you can spend time in cafe or in casino that are joined with the pier.

New on the promenade from Scheveningen so much nice fairy-tale character..It is so nice to see this..when you go to Scheveningen is it a must..It is 500 meter from Kurhaus in Scheveningen..
New Year's Fire

This is an original Scheveningen event and is celebrated every year at mid-night, 00.00 hrs!
Some weeks before the event the Scheveningen locals already are busy to look for "pallets" made of very flammable wood, even stolen "pallets" are collected.
There are just two places where it is allowed to make a huge bonfire and it became a true competition which of the two groups has created a bigger bonfire.
The two places are near the Boulevard (North Scheveningen) and near the Duindorp-area (South Scheveningen), see picture which is the South Scheveningen ...
Every year I want to join the event, though until now I could not make it, so ... next year?
