This is the journeyplanner with all schedules:

I've just guessed a central point in Voorburg and the beach in Scheveningen which is 35 minute travel time.
There are various ways to get there, depending on where you leave exactly and where you want to arrive exactly. So you'll have to try that out yourself by using the journeyplanner.

In general though, most itineraries are 35 minutes including a little bit of walking here and there.
The cost depends on which 'strippenkaart' you have bought.
At the most the trip would be 3.20 euro one-way (which is 4 strips on your strippenkaart).

Travel Tips for Scheveningen

Fairytale Statues

by penumbra

The Beelden aan Zee museum hides just behind the dunes midway between the pier and the harbor. To help entice visitors to the museum, they put out some artwork on the dune visible from the promenade. My favorites are the 23 statues of fairytale figures created by New York sculpture Tom Otterness. The largest of the statues shows the proper way to eat a herring.

Figures on the quay

by bugulma

There are cute figures on the quay of the Northern Sea, doing different things. As far as I understood they are placed in front of Sea Life Museum. There are some photos in the travelogue. I think it is the funniest and the most popular sight-seeing in the town :-)

Kurhaus

by bugulma

As far as I understood from the guidebooks, Kurhaus was built as a hotel in the end of XIX century. It is one of the more beautiful building on the shore in the town. It has very nice view when you see from the beach.

Vlaggetjesdag -video tour

by StuartDutchman

Vlaggetjesdag is a Dutch festival celebrating the arrival of the first new herring of the year.

This is a tradition that dates back to the 14th century when fishermen went out to sea in their small boats to capture the annual catch.

Today this ritual has become more of a tourist attraction and a way of promoting the new herring season.

Vlaggetjesdag (Flag Day) is celebrated each year around the end of spring, beginning of summer.

Large and small ships are decorated with a rainbow of flags in the harbor at Scheveningen, a vacation resort and seaport located in The Hague, Netherlands.

People from nearby fishing villages put on their traditional costumes, while folk dancing and folk orchestras entertain the crowds with local music.

The way to eat the raw herring, usually as a snack, is to hold it by the tail over one's mouth and lower it while eating. It can also be consumed on a roll, with or without chopped raw onions.

Scheveningen Quality

by RoyJava

Scheveningen is famous for its beach,... and for fish trade!

So there are some good wholesale trades, doing business all over the world.

Especially the shrimps are very popular and well-known for its quality.

You may bump onto a Scheveningen truck, not that spectular, though read the name on the truck. Like the one on the photograph with the name of "Den Heijer" ...

That is a truely and original family out of Scheveningen. These locals know a lot of Scheveningen tellings of legendary times, great to listen to.
