The Hague's hotel in a historic monument building

Ambassade Arena Aparthotel, a three star plus hotel, is ideally suited for both independent business and pleasure travellers seeking a "home away from home" while visiting the Netherlands. The hotel's seven units, all four star sized studios or junior suites, are located in one of the buidings forming the "Kropholler Complex", one of the city's more disticntive historic monuments featuring the hotel, 15 private homes, a chapel and silent center with an extraordinary replica of the Lourdes Grotto (open daily from 9-5), a Catholic church and a former rectory now known as "De Oude Pastorie."

All spacious and sunny rooms feature modern amenities such as a wireless internet connection, TV with VCR and a fully equipped kitchenette.

The hotel is highly recommended due to it's ideal central location which is quietly situated, yet steps from the beach and numerous restaurants, activities and attractions. The hotel's salon is also equipped with a small internet cafe (2 PCs) which guests are invited to use.

We also enjoyed a vist Vitalizee, a five star spa overlooking the North Sea, which is conveniently located across the street and the hotel's owners were especially helpful with making our reservations.

Unique Quality: Ambassade Arena Aparthotel is just one of two hotels in the city which are housed in monument buildings. The hotel was recently renovated and features a marbled floor entryway decorated with antiques and original artwork.

Wireless internet and fully equipped kitchenettes are popular amenities. The hotel serves as a "pied a' terre" for business and independent travellers looking for an authentic Dutch lifestyle during their stay in the Netherlands, whether it be as short as two days or for an exrtended stay of several months for professional reasons.

The hotel has just seven units and all have hardwood floors and are decorated to suggest a turn of the century "arts and crafts" style. The building's architect, A.J. Kropholler, was one of Holland's best known early 20th C architechts and a great admirer of William Morris. All guest rooms feature William Morris wallpaper, oriental style rugs, en suite bathrooms with built-in showers and comfortable seating for reading.

Prospective guests should be aware that the hotel accepts reservations for a two night minimum stay and smoking is not permitted on the premises.

Breakfast is served to the guests in the great room of "De Oude Pastorie", a former rectory. There is no need for a restaurant on the premises as some fifty or more restaurants, from the Kurhaus's Kandinsky gourmet restaurant to beachside snackbars, can be found across the street on the beachfront promenade.
