Upgrade Demanded when Traveling with Children

Although I did not stay at the hotel (I used my date of experience instead) I am going to warn families in advance that they will force you to upgrade to a more expensive room once you make your reservation in order to accommodate a small child. I originally booked a Deluxe room (which is not the smallest by any means and was offered as a room choice as part of the "Family Package" ) for one night in which the Hague was going to be a stopover on the way to Delft. I informed them in the reservation that my husband and I were also traveling with my daughter (4 years old). They called me and told me that the Deluxe room for 270 euros would not accommodate a third person. I informed them that it was only our child who for the night would just be sleeping in our bed and that it was not an adult. They said that a child is considered an adult and a third person. They told me that I would have to stay in a more expensive room for 365 euros. They were very unprofessional and rude and proceeded to offer me a complimentary rollaway bed but stated I had no choice but to say in the more expensive room. A rollaway bed certainly does not make up for the additional 95 Euro. I have always enjoyed (and trusted) the Starwood collection and am certain for people traveling without children it would be a fine hotel choice but this is a word of warning to those with children that they penny pinch. I was shocked at the rudeness in which this was handled. In my opinion the Hotel Des Indes is not worthy of the Starwood Luxury collection name.

Majestic Hotel Des Indes

The hotel has played host to numerous celebrities and heads of state over the years, including President Roosevelt, President Chirac, Tony Blair, Anna Pavlova, Mata Hari, and the Spice Girls and many others.

Location in the heart of The Hague as well as its close proximity (10 minutes) to the seaside town of Scheveningen.

Le Meridien Hotel Des Indes offers a luxurious experience in a charming and historical environment.

Unique Quality: The bedroom design is an eclectic mix of modern and antique using red glass wall hangings and patterned glass. The luxurious bathrooms, many with two white marble basins sunk into red Portuguese custom-made tiles, have beautiful black marble floors and contrasting white baths and rain showers. Corridors are brightly decorated with bold murals of coloured tulips.

New facilities include a health club with indoor marble swimming pool, high speed internet in all guest rooms and wireless internet access in all public areas throughout the hotel.

The grand atrium, restored to its former glory, is a marvellous 'sitting and watching' area with an enormous modern glass chandelier as the centrepiece. Refurbished meeting rooms are also available for business meetings or parties from six to 100 guests

The Hague's Old Days

Surrounded by The Hague's Royal Palace, the Parliament and a lot of embassies you'll find the beautiful Hotel des Indes (Hotel Year Built 1858) which is showing its "dignified luxury". Here the sojourners of rich and famous enjoyed The Hague with striking services. A lot of fashion crews love to shoot here their romantics, staying at the elegant, spacious guest rooms, each with panoramic view.

The hotel attracts a discriminating clientele of famous people, including Michael Jackson, Prince, W. Churchill, President Roosevelt of America (1910), Russian Czar Nicolas, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, the Pilot Lindenberg, German Emperor Wilhelm, the American General Eisenhower, Montgomery and Miss Priscilla Presley.

Anna Pavlova, world's most respected ballet dancer, became legendary here, and died in the Hotel des Indes. Feel welcome to pay a visit to the Anna Pavlova room in the Hotel.

Hotel Des Indes, still a beloved and upmost famous hotel in Holland, was happy to welcome its special guest Miss Priscilla Presley and I had a great stay there with her (yep, I was the personal make-up adviser and hairdresser of Miss Presley!) doing her promotion-trip ...

Unique Quality: The Le Meridien Hotel De Indes Restaurant is on world-famous food critics list. And see the walls of silk brocade (it's true) and the famous bathrooms, some are larger that the room itself.
