Average Hostel

An average hostel that costs $16/night for an 8-room dorm. The toilet smelled, no lockers, people smoke in the rooms (non-smoking) and breakfast was stale and the dishes were dirty (0730 to 0930). Paid internet usually works. No food/drink/alcohol/drugs in the rooms. Close to the train station, and easy to walk into the city (no bike required). I would not stay here again.

stay ok just stay ok... nothing else

this is the only hostel in den haag so you haven't a great choise...
the place is quite like a hotel with a bar, a breakfast room and a restaurant in the 2 floor.
I have never eaten in the restaurant but as concerning the breakfast that was included it was OK, nothing special, international breakfast.
the staff was available and quite friendly but every morning there was a very inpolite housekeeper coming inside my room without waiting my authorization to come in.
anyway the place was OK but the prices are quite expensive...
maybe the title "hostel" is not OK
the real fact is that in Den Haag this is the cheapest place to stay :((

A 5 star youth hostel !

A youth hostel "de luxe". Well located near the HS-station, safe, clean and friendly. These are probably the reasons why this youth hostel is more expensive than others : 28 € in a 8-people-dormitory (sheets and breakfast included). The rooms are new and clean with all facilities inside. The only thing I didn't like : there is no separation between the room and the washstand, so it can be noisy. For the rest, it's all ok. We also tried the food in the evening. That was good and cheap. For 6,6 euros, we had a big plate with fries/bami goreng, chicken with sate sauce, vegetables ...

where the cool people meet :-)

As far as I know this is the only hostel in town. Rooms are basic, with own shower and toilet, light at each bed, everything is cleaned every day and you meet people from everywhere in the world. Some are strange, others wonderful. About 15 min walk to the city center, 5 min to tram station.

Buzzling backpacker atmosphere.

Unique Quality: Great, busy bar with pool, darts, newspapers... very nice reception staff! good breakfast! supermarket across the .... canal :-)

Not so bad after all

Before the Stayokay I never stayed in a hostel in my life, always being lucky to afford nice hotels. This time I was forced to stay in a hostel, working on a school project in The Hague. To my surprise it wasn't bad at all. My opinion on hostels was totally wrong. Although you have to share room with other people, if they're your friends it is actually fun.
The rooms are nice and clean and they also serve pretty good breakfast. Stayokay Den Haag also has a bar, internet service, and even a meeting room. Don't expect anything fancy, all they have in rooms is beds, small cupboards, and a table with chairs. But if you still miss TV programs just walk to the bar where they have it available at any time.
The location is very safe and it is very close to the train station

'De Uithof' skating

by maxVTusha

I am looking for a small hotel or B and B or some other type accomodation near the ice rink 'De Uithof' rather than worrying about heading into town late at night ( I don't drive)
Many thanks your help as I was searching for information and located this forum

Don't worry about heading into the city late at night. The Uithof isn't opened until really late and it is just on the outskirts of the city. Take tram 6 to get back to the centre.

The above mentioned locations are quite ok. The prinsestraat is right in the centre.

Another but only during weekdays is the hotel that the students of the Mondriaan school run. They have 5 rooms to let. +31 (0) 70 3045200

Suggestion for 'some other type of accomodation': a friend of mine lives close to the Uithof just a few tramstops with line 6. I think he can provide you with a simple place to sleep. You can e-mail him on the address that I sent you by e-mail. So check your mailbox.

you could always sleep on the pavement, lots of people do these days. Some passers by may even throw you some coins.

So much for the "Uithof"; the complex is on fire right now.

that is just about the most unhelpful and most unpleasant thing i've red, and it's not very funny either. even by dutch standards that's very poor.

Fire is never funny. I was just bringing the news.

If you check at http://www.deuithof.nl/ you can see they're back in business!
