The second chamber
by Nathalie_B
If you're taking the guided tour in Binnehof it will include a visit of the second chamber.
Dutch parliament consists of two, lower and upper, chambers. The second chamber has 150 members. Elections to both houses are held every four years. If you understand Dutch you may even attend one of the meetings, otherwise just enjoy the guided tour. You may also intersted to know that the hall is devided to left and right sided. Since you'll be viewing the chamber from the balcony, the chairs you'll see on your right belong to the left-wing politicians and on your left to the right wing.
Christmas Time At The Hague
by RoyJava
Actually I do not like Christmas as in the former days. Christmas time is for families or going for a trip into the mountains with a lot of snow. My parents are n't here anymore, my little brother passed away in a sudden moment some years ago. And my only brother left lives at Macau, China. So Christmas time to me is to be with some good friends, or go for a Christmas dinner with them. What I do love about Christmas time is the way people think about peace, love and be together. People wanna be happy, want to look good and make up their looks, in a time of the Solstice. When the days will draw out and the year is gonna move into a new one. At that time a lot of street stalls show its colourful stuff, mostly in the colours of red, white and green. Those colours do link with Indonesia, because red and white are the colours of the Indonesian flag. And green is the colour of the Islam, which most of the Indonesians follow (over 88%). Though ... it is the colour of the Javanese Spirit-queen Ratu Kidul, too!
Thanks for the memory, Christmas time!
The Hague is developing huge...
by DanielF
The Hague is developing huge building in contemporary style whose match with the ancient style of the city is more than arguable. There are, however, some examples of fine contemporary architecture, like the Danstheater, by Koolhaas, a cultural complex in the square you can see in the picture (Spuiplein). It is home to the celebrated Netherlands Dance Company.
