Self catering accommodation?
by Yowsa
Hi there,
My husband, myself and our two young children (3 years and 8 months) plan to visit Drammen in June to see friends. Can anyone recommend self-catering accommodation? Ideally a two room place, with a travel cot.
Thanks in advance, Helena

If you travel by car, there are campgrounds around Drammen that have cabins that would be a good alternative. Hokksund which is already mentioned could be a good choice. Svelvik, a bit south of Drammen, also has a nice campground http://homannsberget.net/english/huts.html.

camp sites are the only real self catering systems here,,
and absolutely the cheapest one,, our automobile organization has a rating system of stars,,, 1 star is "lowest possible" standard,, and hmm i think 5 is the highest,,, i'll have a search here, to see if i find any pages with maps& rankings in drammen area for you guys:)

Travel Tips for Drammen
Kunstnerdalen
by Bjorgvin
Visit Kunstnerdalen (The Valley of Artists). About 40 km from Drammen (Oslo c. 110km) are Sigdal, Eggedal and Krødsherad and places such as Norefjell, Åmot, Modum and Vikersund. This is a forested land of scenic beauty, of gently rolling mountains and sparkling clear lakes. This is a great area to visit, with many cultural attractions, museums etc., and spectacular landscape.

Two Aasses please!
by Bjorgvin
Aass Brewery, established in 1834, is the oldest brewery in Norway today. It is located in the city of Drammen, at the banks of the Drammen. Poul Lauritz Aass bought the brewery in 1860 and since then it has been in the same family.
Visit Fredfoss, if possible

I don't know what was so special here at Fredfoss but I will strongly recommend you to go there for a visit.
I hope that I wasn't impressed only because the weather was amazing and the situation special. I will only up-load some photos from there and you'll decide if you want to go there or not.
I have to mention that I was one of the participants at the Dresser-Rand User's Conference in 2009, which was itself a good experience and a good occasion to meet nice people and to make good friends too.
I don't know who was the artist who did all those cocoons around in Fredfoss, but he had a beautifull vision abot US.

"No.7 in top ten cities in Norway"
With only 62000 people, Drammen is on the 7th place on top ten largest cities in Norway.
I suppose that it can be funny for the Chinese people to read this information :)
For Norwegians is not like this and Drammen area is a very well known one, for all of them.
I found by chance that Drammen's motto is In Fide Et Justitia Fortitudo (in faith and justice is strength) and I consider that this is actually defining very well Norway and Norwegians too.
I haven't spent to much time in Drammen, but it seems that the city is built around the Drammenselva (Drammen's river) and Drammensfjord ( Drammen's fjord).
As we all know, having the city built around a big river, and having as a plus the vicinity of the Fjord, is giving the guarantee that the city is beautifull and the air is fresh.

A very nice town near Oslo
by Cristian_Uluru
Drammen is a very nice town in a very beautiful valley. It was founded in 1811 and the Bragernes Market is the heart of the old town.
The town is located on the junction between E134 and E18. The town is far only 40 Km from Oslo.
In Drammen there are sone nice buildings to see and you must go to the Spiralen, a tunnel that go up like a Spirale!!!! From Spiraltoppent you can see a wonderful landscape over Drammen or walking in the forest.
In the winter season you can ski in the wonderful valleys around the town.
Enjoy your stay in Drammen!!!!
