Orpen Camping: Campsite on a lake

Orpen Camping is beautifully situated in a wood on Lake Kroden in Hallingdal, but it is also close to the road. What spoils a little the natural harmony is a high voltage power transmission line drawn right across the lake.
You can put up your tent between the trees or stay in a cabin. The cabins, built on rock above the water, are pretty, quite spacious and well-equipped but their best feature is the verandah, where you can sit admiring the scenery. We stayed there twice on our tours of Norway and were very pleased except for one thing - the communal bathrooms. The shower is fixed to the ceiling and cannot be taken off the hook, which makes the process of showering rather complicated, not to mention the fact that you have to use more hot water, and it's not free. There is hot water in only one of the washbasins so you may have to queue for it in full season.

Beautifully situated, possibility of nice walks, a pebble beach very close
