The Rica hotel is centralized location just by the sea, it is probably the biggest in the city and most expensive but I didn’t use it.
I have been there twice for few weeks. I have tried two types of rooms. One on the ground floor which was good enough for me. The second one on the first floor in the vicinity of the reception was looking much better. Actually I can reccomend the second one as a good single room.
We stayed in this nice traditional wooden hotel about 1 km from the city centre. It was peaceful and nice room and good breakfast included.
Hammerfest Turistsenter is a gas-station with camping and motel-apartments. I rent one of the motel-apartments for a couple of days.
This is actually just outside Hammerfest, but it is no more than a 10-15 minutes walk to the city center.
It claims to be the only Hammefest-accomodation from where you can see the midnight sun, thanks to that mountains stands in the way of the sun in the city center.
And you get a nice view. But it is strange that they have not taken the sun into consideration when they bought curtains. They have just thin curtains, and if you need complete dark to sleep, you should bring something to block out the light.
The standard was OK, but nothing more. It was a very small "apartment". The kitchen seemed to be a bit incomplete. No oven, and probably by a mistake, no frying pan.
The reception is in a gas-station that is very far from modern. It was just like stepping into a gas-station from 20 years ago. Maybe that is why Hammerfest Turistsenter has no website.
A view of the midnight sun.
This is the moment where you can see clearer of the city view under the dim light of the sun.
Street view. Even though this is the brightest period of the day but you may need to turn on the light while driving.
