Norway - New Year 2007
"New Year Trip"
We went to Karasjok in Arctic Norway for New Year 2007 and had an absolutely fantastic time.
The sun only came up for a few hours every day and the temperature was around 20 below most days, although after a day or two you hardly noticed.
"The place"
Karasjok only has a population of just under 3,000, most of whom seemed to disappear for the duration of our stay! As it was a National Holiday most of the shops were shut and everyone seemed to be inside to stay away from the cold.
Whilst we were there we went out on snowmobiles on New Years Eve and took a Husky Trail on New Years morning, it was beautiful!
On New Years Eve we witnessed quite possibly the most amazing firework display we'd ever seen. Practically every home in Karasjok had their own display and as the place was so small you scould see every one. It was non stop for about half hour after midnight. It was so good we even forgot about the cold and watched it outside in our shirts.
"Overall"
This picture was taken at around midday, which gives you an idea of the perpetual twilight.
It was a week of amazing scenery, amazing people, amazing cultures. Generally amazing!!

What a way to spend New Years Day!
