Russia and the Aurora
by Mickfortune
Is it possible to visit Russia without a visa?
Is it necessary to get out of the town if the aurora is active in order to see it well?
How can I get out of the town - taxi? bus? snowmobile?
Thanks

Are you talking about the Aurora that is permanently on show in St Petersburg, Russia?

The light from the aurora is relatively faint and doesn't do well as well with competition from other sources of light, i.e. the moon, lights in town, etc.
Obviously it cannot be seen at all on a cloudy night.
Pick a clear, moonless night when there is activity and get out of this fairly small town for the best viewing.

Also keep in mind that you will have to obtain your russian visa in your country before you come to norway. There are also a lot of other things you should know regarding that visa regarding invitations, itinerary etc.
