How can I get from the Station to the Clarion Collection Hotel

by vtg81

Hello

I'd like to know how I can get from the Railway Station to the Clarion Collection Hotel by bus. I think a taxi would be too epensive. Is there any bus which could do the trick? What is the number? Where is the bus stop? Where I can buy the ticket? Thank You in advance.

Well, it's not that far by taxi. Perhaps 10 minutes is all.
It's at the end of the famous "Hansa Bryggen" warf, next to the "Rosenkrantz tårnet". And there is actually a free bus that goes from the bus station next to the railway, and stops near the hotel. The free bus is simply called "gratisbussen" and is compliments of the county and businesses in the centre.
Welcome to Bergen!

Travel Tips for Bergen

Bergen is for walking the streets....

by Vikingwoman

You can walk arownd the town just looking at houses , people, dogs and cats. You can sit down at a outdoor resturant with a ecspesso and just se people walk by.... Or look at the boats and the sea... Listen to the birds....Or have a walk in the park.... Its so litle and so muth to do !.... You decide your self.... But you have to take a trip out on the fjords ! That is a " must" The best thing about Bergen is coming home from a travel....... Its nice out there in the world....but nothing compers to Bergen.

take the funicular and go down walking.

Excellent views and nice trip. Walking in the darkness through historical (s.XII) buildings... alone.
Caminando en la oscuridad, entre edificios del siglo XIII solo... y en la parte de afuera de una iglesia, entre las tumbas.

Walk in the darkeness through the church between tumbs.

The Dragon Boat Festival Parade

by yooperprof

Bergenites celebrate midsummer with Dragon Boat Races in the beautiful harbor. These are run between fancifully dressed teams who row ships which are in the shape of dragons. On opening night of the festival there is an elaborate and good-natured parade which allows normally restrained Norwegians to let their hair down. So to speak.

Looking for more information

There might be something you're wondering about when you're in Bergen. Sometimes you just don't have the VT friends at hand. Well: There's a place you can go: The tourist information accross the street from the fishmarket. It's located in an old bank, and quite pleasant. If they don't know the answer to what you're asking, they try hard to find someone who does.

Stave Church...

by CandS

We had never seen a stave church before and weren't quite sure what it actually was so we headed out to the Fantoft Stave Church.

After catching a bus out to a 'suburb' we had a 10 minute hike into the 'woods'. The cute stave church was hidden away amongst the trees.

We also found some really nice people along the way who were great help! The people in Bergen are really nice!
