Good view in good weather
The hostel is situated a bit from the city center, half way up Ulrikken (Mount Ulrikken). You can if you want take the Ulrikken bus, and walk up the pedestrian passage, but I'd wait till you don't have any luggage. It's a steep climb with something holding you down.
Remember to keep left when you reach the top.
For someone staying in Bergen for only a few days, I'd recomend not spending time walking all the way from the city to the Hostel.
Directions: Take the bus No 7. It stops a few dusin meters from the entrance.
My stay was short at Montana Hostel... the accomodations are comfortable and fine.
Also you can take the bus to downtown in the corner, so mobility is not a problem.
The staff was always nice and polite... in a nutshell: if you need a good place, go there!
Directions: Take the directions when you arrive at the train station (in case you arrive by train)...
We stayed at the Montana Hostel while we were in Bergen. It was okay but nothing special... The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were fine. We had bunk beds in our room.
Directions: Don't take the bus in the Western Europe Lonely Planet guide...it will never come - we were told there is no such bus. We took Bus 31 and it got us there.
