Hi Betzy

The hotel where the wedding is taking place is quite far from the city centre; near to the airport. Other hotels located near your place would be Scandic Hotel (part of the Hilton group; quite basic) or the Bergen Airport Hotel. They both have www pages. i would guess that you could get a week-end rate at both at around USD100 a night, maybe cheaper if you book early.
Otherwise you could get cheaper accommodation downtown (which I would recommend so that you could do some sightseeing). A good deal is the Marken Gjestehus (approx USD50 a night incl breakfast). See www. markengjestehus.com.
From there you could take a bus to the wedding hotel, it takes approx 30-45 mins i guess.

Travel Tips for Bergen

Norwegian Flag

by Ken_Weaver

I could not find any information as to the significance of the design or colors, except that it was designed in such as a way as not to be that similar to the Danish Flag. Denmark ruled Norway for a number of years and the designers of the Norsk flag wanted to be sure that their sovereignty was recognized!

Currency

by Marpessa

This was the first time I used a currency so different from my own (The GBP and Euro are similiar enough to the Australian dollar for me to relate easily to them). I actually thought the currency was nice, and now have enough '1 Krone' coins left to make myself a bracelet (don't know if I'm actually going to do that).

Helpful Tourist Center

by Kiisu

Go to the tourist information centre, across from the fish market. They are very friendly and helpful. Having stepped off a ferry on a holiday evening with no plans, I quickly found a reasonably-priced room, exchanged money, and purchased a tourist card with their help.

The older part of Bergen is worth seeing. Little old houses of wood. Ask around and you will be pointed in the right direction. If you want to study it closer, you should go to the outdoor museum 'Gamle byen' (The old town).

Lost?

by daarth

This is the most common place for a rendezvous. People arranging to meet in town usually agree to meet at "the blue stone" (den blå sten). Nobody knows what this monument is, but everybody knows where it is :-)
The location is below the theatre on the plaza "Togalmeningen"
