Having no advance bookings due to traveling without set itinerary and during peak summer season, we were at the mercy of availability. Even though we stayed here, we did try many other hotels first.
The Rica was among the most expensive, but again, we had no other options. The staff was polite and helpful to our questions and offered valuable assistance. Breakfast was among the best that we had in our trip through Norway.
However for the price paid, the rooms were the smallest I've seen. We barely had enough room to change out clothes. The "double" room was actually a single room with a converted couch angled 90-degrees.
The rooms that face the exterior streets I've been told are quite noisy at times due to local clubs/pubs and street noise.
Unique Quality: The hotel did offer free WiFi and a fabulous breakfast buffet.
Parking discount was offered for parking in the city central garage.
Directions: One and half blocks south of the Byparken. 5 minutes walk south of the old waterfront.
This hotel is just ok. The rooms are small and not too nice, but you'll survive. The location is very good but there are many other nicer hotels around. The breakfasts (typical norwegian) are an extraordinary experience.
