Cheap solution for Bergen
We have chosen that hotel because the price was much smaller than the others and it was available for the period we were planning to go there.
The position is not so bad, right near the Hakonshallen. The architecture of the hotel is really stupid, saying nothing and being built unfortunately near some of the oldest buildings in the city.
If the municipality will take in consideration to demolish it, that area will have a big gain from it.
It is a clean 3 stars hotel and we couldn't complain about it, without being impressed too.
If you need a good place to sleep without spending a fortune this can be a good choice.
The only problem we had, was due to the abnormal high temperature. They don’t have Air Conditioning in rooms and we had to sleep with the window open… This is anyway something very exceptional happening.
Unique Quality: Position is good enough, keeping in mind that we have paid at least 25 % less than for any other similar hotels in Bergen.
The breakfast was not the best I have ever eaten but I could survive with it until the lunchtime... but no more than this
Something else...they don't have in rooms any wardrobe, shelf or anything else where to put the content of our suitcases. Nothing, excepting some hangers... it is of course quite uncomfortable.

A perfect hotel close to the Bryggen
Rainbow Bryggen Orion Hotel is very close to the Bergenhus Festning and to the Bryggen, the old German wharf of Bergen.
The rooms are medium in size and all with bathroom. All the rooms are decorated with fine colours.
The breakfast is served to the restaurant on the ground floor. The restaurant doesn't service dinnar.
The hotel haven't got a car park thus, if you have a car, you must park it to the Radisson Sas Car Park under the Bryggens Museum (about 100 meters far from the hotel).
A nice hotel in a wondeful town!!!!

Clean and comfortable and reasonable for Bergen!
Stayed at the Bryggen Orion hotel whilst on my trip to Bergen and ok it is not the Raddisson or the Hilton but it is clean, comfortable with reasonable rates i.e. 625 Nok a night for a room which is reasonable for Bergen you wont get much cheaper unless you stay in a youth Hostel.
Unique Quality: Great views you'd better believe it - Ozzy Osbourne was right next door to our hotel.
The buffet breakfast was also included in the cost and you can visit it as many times as you wish (which i did) and includes just about everything. also free coffee on tap in the Bar/Lounge.
A playstation for the kids and me of course and internet acess is available for 45 Nok for 30 minutes.

Rainbow Bryggen Orion
A very clean tourist hotel. It has an 80's touch to it and the showers are an inconvenience (splish-splash all over the bathroom), but it's quiet and there are some good deals to be had over the internet.
Unique Quality: The breakfast buffet is the largest I've ever seen. In every Scandinavian country I've had an enormous feast, but this one blew me away!

Hotel near Bryggen
This is a nice hotel located just a few minutes from the Bergen Brygge.
Unique Quality: Nice and clean rooms. Friendly staff. A good location, centrally in Bergen.

It is OK if you only stay for a night
I stayed here for just one night in January 2003. The hotel is located quite near the center of town so it is easy to get around in the city. It doesn't take that long to get to Fløien. This is one of Bergen's most visited attraction. It will take you on top of a mountain and you get a great view of the city.
The room itself was pretty standard: a couple of chairs, TV with the normal cable channels, a water boiler if you want to make some coffee or tea, a small fridge with drinks and chocolates and a small desk. The bed itself was a bit on the soft side for my likings and the pillow was too thin. The bathroom was quite small and there was only a shower curtain when it comes to the shower. This means that the water splashed all over the floor when I took a shower and the curtain kept sticking to my back. I don't have a big problem with that but I do of course have some thoughts about the fact that this shower curtain has probably been stuck to many other people :-) I found little bottles of shampoo in the bath room. And in the shower there is a big container of soap. Many hotels has gone over to bigger containers which are put on the wall. I guess it is more environmental friendly to do this compared to handing out small shampoo bottles.
I brought my laptop along hoping that they had some sort of broadband connection at the hotel. But they only had normal phone lines so I didn't bother trying to hook up.
The breakfast was a traditional Norwegian hotel standard: bread (with all the stuff you can have on bread), cereal, egg in different variations and coffee/tea/milk/juice. You can also get evening food at the hotel but I didn't try it out. I would guess that you get bread and different stuff to have on the bread.
Unique Quality: Like most other "small" Norwegian hotels (there is about 230 rooms) they don't have that many other facilities such as a pool. But they do have non-smoking rooms and even rooms for women.
If you bring along a car I think you can park it outside the hotel. I think the fee was about 9 US dollars.
