Thon Hotel Bristol Bergen

Good comfortable hotel right in the city centre. Free coffee allday. Breafast is taken in the Egon restarant.

I reserved the Thon Bristol because of VT recommendations. I was very satisfied. The position is perfect, very central. We got a backside room of reasonable size (for a city hotel), perfectly clean and everything looked new and tasteful. There was a kettle and coffee - tea.

I liked so much that on my next visit to Bergen I'll certainly take it again.

I less liked the restaurant where we had breakfast, the Egon restaurant. Old rough style of decoration, small tables, unexpected steps and changing levels on the floor, crowded. Maybe is nice for a snowy day.

Unique Quality: The most comfortable bed and pillows, I have to find such a mattress for home. There was no view - a backside room, but the window could be opened. That's more important for me than the view when Im asleep.

Directions: We arrived by taxi. The entrance is a bit unnoticeable, it's under a big sign EGON restaurant. If the driver hadn't brought us there, we would have to ask where the entrance was.

Bristol Bergen is a well-appointed, professionally run hotel with spacious rooms and good facilities. Excellent buffet breakfast fit for any tourist or business traveler. Ideal if you're flying into or out of Bergen, the hotel is an easy 2-block walk from the Airport Bus stop. Its only disadvantage: because it's so close to Ole Bulls Plass, you can get some street noise, especially late evenings.

When we stayed here, Bristol was a member of the Rainbow Hotel chain. Now, it is a member of the Thon Hotel chain. When we stayed here, the hotel was a member of the the SkanPlus consortium. As such, not only were we able to stay for NOK 950 per night with our SkanPlus card, we were also able to get our final night's stay for free. Unfortunately, as of January 2007, the SkanPlus program has been discontinued.

Rack rates as of January 2007 are NOK 1345 per night for a double room, including breakfast. Better internet rates are sometimes available; check the website for details.

Directions: One block from Ole Bulls Plass. From the train station, walk straight down Kaigaten. Hotel is on the left, on the corner of Kaigaten and Torgalmenningen.

Unique Quality: The hotel has a great view, but I'll not say that this is the place you have to stay! Because Bergen has a lot of good places to stay...and some cheaper guesthouses or motels...

It is not the cheapest accommodations but using hotel is by fare the nicest acsept you rearly get to know any one isolated to the room. i can recomend the Bristol hotel
