Getting wet in Voss
by PrincessMonja
I was booked on this - so I didn't get a choice.
It scares me witless until the second part when I started to really have fun! The Voss rafting Senter has a great set up with all the equipment you need, plus a cafe to recover in after!
Bordalsgjelet
by Sileas
Not among Voss' most advertised features is the canyon of Bordalsgjelet. A humble signpost suggests some paths, the rest is up to the visitor to be found.
The canyon is cut deep into the stone and there is still a white and foaming river at the bottom. A path is made for people to get further into it and to enjoy the spectacular view. It leads mainly underneath overhanging rocks, little stream coming down on the side and the noise of the water is ear-battering. There are many pot-holes in the rocks as well - called Jettegryte in Norwegian, the cooking pot of the witch Jette, and you can imagine how she is cooking there.
Well worth a little tour, especially on a hot summer day as it stays nice and cool there all the time. If you are lucky you can also spot some interesting animals there, among them the Dipper, the Norwegian National Bird.

"Visiting Chums"
We went to Voss for 4 days to visit our friends Jenny and Jay who are working at the Youth Hostel there for the summer. Our visit coincided with the Extreme Sports festival - luckily we got away quite lightly as we weren't made to jump of any mountains or plunge from planes.
We did go whitewater rafting (which I was sooooo scared about - but managed to survive!) See the other photos on my Voss pages.
"Celebrating Midsummer - Swedish style in Voss!"
As our friend Jenny is Swedish she was keen to celebrate Midsummer as if we were in Sweden - so we did!
We made crowns of flowers and birch, ate herring and potatoes and drank Vodka.
A good time was had by all!
Stunning views from the top

"A warm welcome"
This was a cold resort with a warm heart, the skiing is at the top of the Hangur mountain and the view of the Lake Vangs was superb from the cable car.
For English the drink was very expensive but the resort was really good. Possibly a bit limited for advanced skiers.
