Since I wrote my first review of this hostel I have now had the chance to stay here and it was absolutely brilliant.
The bed was so comfortable, better than most hotels! The shower is better than the one in our house in England and the breakfast is FANTASTIC, local fresh food, lots of it organic and super tasty.
Lots of facilities - they hire bikes and kayaks, and aim to be ecological, with lots of the food being provided from the organic farm next to the hostel

We've been at the Mjolfjell Youth Hostel two years ago for a few days and fell in love with it.
This is not your average Youth Hostel, you can have a reasonable spacious private room for Youth Hostel prices, no interrailing mobs in sight, great location.
It can be reached either by car following the dead end road from Voss or, more likely, by train.
Arriving via train is an event in itself, you have to ask the train guard to stop at what turns out to be just a spot in between two tunnels.
No station, no platform, nothing.
First reaction was panic, it's 8pm and I've been dropped in the middle of the wilderness by a crazy train driver.
More careful observation pointed to a small wooden sign leading to a narrow, steep path leading down towards the Hostel. The view over the Hostel buildings and the pool/jacuzzi in the sunset light was magical.
Great starting point for a true wilderness, fantastic walks with not a soul on sight, great mountains, a paradise for the hillwalker.
The staff was helfpul, the place nice and clean, it would be great for a holiday with the family as well, lots of activities available.
I thoroughly recommend it, a very special experience.
Great location, pool/jacuzzi, very accessible via train, not many cars around, lots of activities
