when the youth hostel doesn't work out...
Don't bother trying the hostel: I went in even though it looked dodgy and discovered it was really dodgy. Some strange creatures - real local outcasts - seemed to live there and were nowhere friendly. Within minutes I was insulted by someone without really realising why. It was a sign for me to leave and move into the Atlantica Hotel.
Unique Quality: Very nice hotel - and especially welcoming staff. The room was great and everyone was very helpful. not cheap, though... i remember as very cheap the telephone calls, strangely enough.

A nice hotel in the heart of Alesund
First Hotel Atlantica is situated in the heart of Alesund across the street from the bus central, and close to taxis and parking houses. Most of the hotel's 72 comfortable rooms have a fantastic view of the Sunnm?re Alps or the lovely Brosundet canal, and are equipped with most modern facilities. First Hotel Atlantica also has a charming caf? with tasty food on the ground floor.

Friendly Hotel
This is a very central hotel next to the Town hall, with paid parking in the street.
The rooms are big and clean and very confortable, with an excellent view and balcony.
Standard bathroom with everything you need for a good shower.
The staff were really friendly and very helpfull.
They serve a light evening meal included in price that was a good surprise .
The breakfast was good too.
