Cod Fishing
by travelfrosch
As you can probably guess, fishing is a very large part of the economy of the Lofoten Islands. One of the most visible signs of this are the many huge cod drying racks that you'll see around the area. The one in the picture is just outside Svolvær on the island of Svinøya.
My cooking place

Before heading downtown Svolvaer I planned to have a short stop for cooking and eating my lunch. Well, guess understandable, I was looking for a place where not many people pass by. Who wants people looking when preparing food...? So my idea was to take a small road towards inland at the towns border. The map showed several lakes and I hoped to find a calm place there.
I was lucky, parked my car and prepared my food. Still some people passed by, but that was not disturbing. The lake offered a very beautiful sight, making me staying a little longer.
My recommendation on the Lofoten is to try different roads even though they might look pretty unspectecular on the map. In real life almost every place on these islands has something to offer!
