Travel Tips for Halden

Halden

by katsiarz

"Halden is a small, peaceful and typical for Norway"

Halden is a small town, 2,5 hours from Oslo and about 20 minutes from Sweden. Population consists mostly of pensioners, though Halden is regarded to be a student town.
Halden is famous for:
The Fortress
Nature
Water chanals
Fishing, canoe
The bridge that connects Sweden and Norway
Highschool
Rock Festivals

I have met here some very nice people.

George Lombo from Columbia and his wife Gerd Lombo from Norway are glad to help the foreigners coming to Halden.

Very opened, generous and cheerful people.

Such people like George and Gerd Lombo make the world better!!!!

"People"

Ingunn Christensen is one of the "angles " that I met in Halden.

I would describe her as a kind and charming woman.
Despite her intensive workschedule she managed to remain polite and very positive.

She is doing a great jobb and I wish her only all the best!!!

Fredrikssten Fortress in Halden, ?stfold, near the Swedish border withstood Swedish attacks three times. Charles XII king of Sweden fell before its walls in 1718. The king was shot in the head with a silver bullet because they believed that he could not be killed with a regular bullet. It has been argued that the shot came from the Swedish ranks. The town, which developed around the fort was chartered in 1665 and was known as Frederikshald or Fredrikshald until 1928.
